Thank you for filming this :) I’m disappointed to see just how badly this Launderette has been treated! The valve needs cleaning and fast! You only getting cold water in, no wonder the seal is green! One of the ones I used from this design filled half way up the door with hot water! Yes - Synthetics doesn’t interim except after the pre-wash, was disappointed to see that when I used it! They have 18 washers here??? Or are they misnumbered? Thanks for uploading

Thank you for the comment Matt :), I totally agree, it's an absolute shame how this launderette has gone to waste. It has gotten much worse since the visit in March 2016. Machines here may look like they work but there's always something wrong and as for the dryers, don't use them unless you want toasted clothes! As for the numbering...they for some reason start at 12 and end at 16 for the WE73's, the 2 WE165s are numbered 17 and 18, then the 25lb and 35lb WE165's along the front are numbered 22 - 26. The dryers start at 33 I think and end at 41, so i'm really confused on that.

So do I. Never really happens to me much but I’d feel cringe if it did I think.

I feel like sometimes you know when you’re just sitting somewhere or you’re filming something and someone is just looking at you for quite a long time it feels as if you’ve just committed a murder or something or when people look open mouthed at you I’d feel like saying “close your mouth Michael we are not a codfish” that’s a line from Mary Poppins.

They really were dreadfully maintained old machines - so many either out of order or with failing drum bearings and other problems. Launderettes must be really suffering these days, they probably cant afford to have the machines repaired, but they are only prolonging the expense, as when all the machines are out of order, the place wont be able to trade at all. Lack of customers will be being made worse by them charging £4.50 / £5.50 per wash, and then having spin speeds so slow that customers get charged much more to dry the clothes in the dryers, which will naturally take longer to dry clothes that are barely spun at all. That place really is on borrowed time until they have no machines left working at all. Good video, as it highlights the plight of the British launderette these days. the ones local to me are always empty with no custom, but if they charge so much to use the machines, then its no wonder.

Well, with the majority of people having their own washing machine these days and most apartment complexes having their a few common machines in the basement, it's hardly surprising that not many choose launderettes anymore.

What tempature do you wash bedding on? I mainly wash my bedding on warm, and I wash my sheets on hot. My Maytag has a Hot/Warm tempature option, and I wash my sheets on that tempature.

Sean 1976 I do mine on a boilwash 95°c/220°F) which is the hottest wash setting possible

220F? That is very hot! My water heater is set to 140F. US machines have Cold, Warm, and Hot tempature options. I was my t shirts on cold, and a cold water wash is better for colors.

It's why they call it a "boilwash", it's so hot that the steam comes out of the drawer during the Main Wash and the entire cabinet of the machine gets hot too. It's for hygiene reasons lol. I do my shirts on 60ºc (Hot Wash or "Hand Hot" as they call it here sometimes), 40ºc(warm wash) for Woollen garments ;)

Hot water is a good way to sanitize clothes, but clothes can get sanitized when they go into the dryer. Many washers and dryers the US back in the 1950's and 1960's had a ozone bulb that introduced ozone to give the clothes a sun-dried scent. It was mainly called a "Germical Lamp" and washers had them to sanitize the clothes.

I don't have that big of a collection, but I do have a Maytag A810 washer and Maytag DG810 gas dryer from 1981 (TOL Maytag washer and dryer) and I also have a Lady Kenmore portable washer and dryer, and I even have a 1950 Kenmore rotary iron. I have a mini collection, but isn't a big collection.

@HooverA3060
@HooverA3060 7 жыл бұрын
I think it's just sort of a freshen up cycle I guess, maybe a short warm wash and short rinses and short spin.

IPSO/JLA washing machines are crap in general they have these machines (branded circuit) in universities most are ether broken or faulty and cost a fortune to do a wash.
