Could you have bound the cutaway before routing the binding channel and then let the router even the end of the cut away binding into the channel?

How deep is the binding Channel ? The one on my current build is 1/8th of an inch and I have an hard time bending my maple binding without any breaks 😅

Every time I see that break in the rosette I'm like, "Oh! What happened to the rosette." Then I realize, "Oh. :-/ The fingerboard goes there."
