Seeing you trim off those thick coils from the base was downright terrifying to watch - I guess both a testament to your skill and my own fear of trimming through the base of my pots 😅 Beautiful work as always, and so informative and helpful for someone getting into pottery - just having you explain the order of operations and reasoning of your trimming is incredibly useful stuff.

10:58 It would be really interesting one time if we could watch a split screen of you throwing in real time and also your foot on the pedal. I’m learning more and more how speed affects things as I throw and I’d love to see your process!

I could easily film both for a mug/bowl, pots where my process will more or less be identical, let me see what I can do!

Do you use a whetstone on the steel tools to sharpen and straighten their edges?

Cool. Who makes the trimming tool you're using? Time to upgrade my super basic beginner's kit. Thanks.

@@floriangadsby Thank you, Sir. I just perused those offerings but still like that double-ended tool you were using in the video. Maybe there's a Goldilocks option between my basic kit and those high-end carbides...

They aren't wobbly when they are sitting still, lol. That is what we say at the studio I go to.

I mean there's wobbly and there's WOBBLY. I think it obviously helps to get your skills to a point where you can make pots that aren't wobbly, but past a certain point a bit of irregularity can creep back in.
