What’s the usual time frame for a contract with a realtor to sell a home? Is it one year? I tried to do it for 6 months and she said I would have to pay for the professional photos myself. Is that normal?

Every Realtor has their own way of doing things. There is no one way. I usually ask for 6 months but have done 3 months before.

Some brokers like those year-long contracts that’s the beauty of selling your house in America. You cannot only negotiate but tell them no thanks I’m talking to another agent. Now with luxury homes, especially really expensive luxury like above $10 million. Those homes do take a longer period to sell, so it’s pretty normal to see a year long contract on those.
