@razumfrackle Maybe because New York officials were connected to reality? You can't compare the numbers for areas entering the surge in cases on different times until they are both on the other side. Florida having relatively few deaths now are irrelevant when their hospitals are being swamped. Florida's numbers will surge in the coming weeks, it's simple math when a percentage of cases dies and when the infection rate wasn't being controlled by lockdown. There will be a lot of cases not recognized yet due to the lack of testing.

And now 2 years later, Rep Sabatini is proved correct. FL is #1 in the USA for percent population of Sr.Citizens and #19 in the nation on Covid death rate per capita. Since COVID impacts the elderly far far more than young people, the decisions in FL not to have mask mandates, not to shut down schools, to keep the beaches open etc is proven 100% to have been the correct decision in hindsight. States that had much lower elderly population , still had much higher Covid death rates per Capita than Florida which was kept free. Kids went to school in FL and people were not fined heavily or fired from their jobs for not having masks or vaccines. I wore a mask and encouraged others to do the same, also encouraged others to get the vaccine as I did. There was no reason for the blue state tactics and the evidence is now overwhelming that the red states, with freedom, made the right choice.

I was in Home Depot in Atascadero, CA last night. I was wearing a mask as is currently mandated by the state, and doing my best to maintain social distance. This has been my practice from the beginning, because I recognized it is my duty as an American and a human being to try to protect my fellow Americans and people in general. I was only in there a few minutes. In that few minutes time, I had at least seven individuals not wearing masks that broke social distancing boundaries and walked right up on me. I do not wear a mask for my protection. I’m fully aware the virus can settle in my eyes. Again, I wear it for the protection of those around me. When I pointed out what was happening to the manager, and asked why Home Depot was allowing these people in the store, she told me that corporate felt that the risk from violent anti maskers was greater than the risk of spreading COVID-19. So, the message from corporate Home Depot is we are now controlled by the thugs. The lawlessness at the top of our government has now rained down amongst the rest of us. Our lives are now controlled by ignorant and entitled radical right wing thugs that beat and murder people because they are told they have to wear a mask to protect our country, our economy, and our fellow citizens. We cannot tolerate this bull. Home Depots should have armed guards at each entry to protect their employees and their customers. They most certainly can afford it. As a country, we have got to make every effort to hold those who intentionally spread all of this false information both civilly and criminally liable. All rights come with responsibility!

I've thought that those with pre-existing respiratory issues would WANT to wear a mask to help prevent getting a respiratory illness??? I mean, you're already more susceptible to complications, so why wouldn't you? Besides, there are masks out there that have respirators that are comfortable to wear. I'd also like to point out that I'm in So Cal, it regularly hits 110+ during the summer, but we deal with it. I'd rather sweat a bit than die alone in a hospital. As an American Living in Germany through this i can say, yes Germany has been on point. Come into the country, quarantine for 14 days, or get tested. Go to a business wear a mask. The citizens don’t freak out, they just adapt and deal with it. Not sheep, not scared, just practical.

A Trump clone! When you're referring to Trump's "beliefs", you might as well be referring to the beliefs of a two year old. I could understand why he (and others) might deny climate change for purely short term economic reasons. However, why he chose to ignore the tsunami of the coronavirus that was obviously headed our way, defies explanation. Had he heeded the advice of the medical experts, and prepared us for what was obviously coming, he would have been in a completely different electoral position at this point! He basically stood on the beach, looking at the tsunami and drove in! Any rational person would have known that that wasn't in their best interest.

He could afford a fine. He could use a timeout in jail to think about how his actions of selfishness could make the issue of breathing easily, very much more than an inconvenience to others.
