The emergency landing at 3:32 was textbook perfect, Hats off to that guy. Most of the other pilots have no excuse.

I have to say as hit and miss as some of these landings are where you question the skill of the pilots, 3:30 was a perfect example of a belly landing. He came in at stalling speed and just before the stall, he gently placed it down. I had to admire that!

That first one was just awesome! Wabbly approach that looked like a sure crash landing.. But it couldn't have been smoother.. Then a slide that looked like it would surely run into people on the sideline.. But it drifted into the taxiway, and parked almost perfectly!!

most common problem with rc planes; retract failure. What I don't understand in the video is why they still land on the concrete instead of grass.

I'm an RC pilot for many years and I have to agree with some of the comments, go around if you can't make it, with a model like that you should fly long enough to have some left for a go around or two, second it looks like several of the crashes wre caused by the pilot panicking when they came in too steep and pulling up sharply and stalling, or getting the plane almost to stall speed and dropping it from too high off the deck, kind of scary piloting by some of them, very abrupt control surface

@jonnyspeed jets can be very challenging. A lot of them don't glide well or have the best slow speed characteristics.

3:29 Thank god he had some drop tanks to work as makeshift landing gear when the normal gear didn't come out, otherwise he would have had to repaint the bottom of the jet.

Cool video, but can't work out why on that first overshoot, the pilot didn't just pull up and go round again as he was never going to land that far down the tarmac? Maybe his throttle servo was stuck and he had to put it in the grass to make it brake?

Im not the best pilot myself I admit, but thats why I keep away from fast and expensive models. Ive been flying for 5 years now and have yet to have a single serious incident with one of my aircraft. Partly to do with my aircraft being tough foam and partly because I stick to the aircraft I can handle. Many of these landings (Not the gear failures. The landing at 3:28 was flawless) didnt look like they were hit by wind gusts or had another other issues outside of their own skill to contend with

it was clearly hot; the tarmac, though white, could create erratic updrafts. And from the smoke of the second crash, you can see that there is some wind. And, at those speeds, it is very difficult to control the aircraft. GRANTED, some of those crashes were rather silly.

@ThatGuyWhoFanDubs Gear failure due to smacking your plane on the runway IS pilot error. I own up to my mistakes. I have been flying all types of aircraft for over 33 years, I think some of us are qualified to call um as we see um.

I'm not very experienced with these big RC planes, especially the jet turbine ones. But it seems most of these "crashes" are due to landing gear failure, the pilot turning the plane way to hard after already landed, and approaching the landing area with too much speed. I think I would of mastered the $99 simulator before taking it to the big, expensive $1,000-$10,000 planes. I bet repairing these things isn't cheap!

You know, it's amazing that the mega bucks spent to purchase these models is not met with better experience at the controls. At this level of aircraft, these types of crashes are inexcusable, unless they were flying in 30 mph crosswinds.

Yikes - what a mess! Looked like it was "the chess club tries their hand at flying RC jets day"!! Agree with other comments - that salmon Phantom is hideous, and can't understand why these pilots didn't just go-around and abort these bad approaches? Also, looks like they needed to land more down-field. Guess just cause you can shell out ten grand for a plane doesn't mean you can fly it.

4:36, you can even pause at that second . that plane is looking so bad , such an unpleasent color for a plane . plus the fact that that position is not a landing one !! , not even an apache does such a hard back tilts . i dont get it .. with my cessna i can go so soft at decending, just a little flare in the end and everything is fine . they have to come so haoticaly, i would be scared if i had to assist such an event ...

These guys may be master modelers, but they can't fly for a damn. They need longer approaches, WAY more flap, LESS THRUST, and ALOT of practice time at low airspeeds to learn how their model handles.

I was told 25 years ago that you always saw the best crashes at scale meets.These guys seem to have egos that exceed their check books! It would seem that It was true what I was told...You could be a great builder but a lousy flier or be a tremendous flier but lousy builder.Me...I fall into neither category;I am a tremendous builder AND I am one hell of a flier!!! HA HA HA HA!!! (just kidding I am a good builder and a bit better than average flier)
