I completely agree! This man has more dignity and integrity in his little finger than his son and his sons girlfriend will ever have in their entire body! It's easy to dwell on the sons abhorrent treatment of his father but, what about the girlfriend? Who would date someone long term that treats his family like this? Who would date and live in the same house that has such a horrible stench coming from one of the rooms? She's obviously a real winner too. In that sense, they really are quite perfect together.

The thing with babies and kids is that they don't understand why they're being abused, or what's going on which is horrible. But the other thing with elders is they know everything and can observe everything that's going on. And if they can't move or talk they have to just sit there with their thoughts knowing and predicting how it's gonna end.

As an adult survivor of child abuse I would like to challenge some of your assumptions. Even as a child you know what the outcome could be, you’re aware of time passing, and you are painfully aware of the dynamics of your abusers. And children experience time as passing much slower than adults.

I can't imagine this. My mother battled Cancer for three years. I had her move in with me, I worked 40 hrs a week, took her to her doctor appointments, radiation, Chemotherapy, showered her, changed her, when I worked, my daughter (19) & my son (22) did it while I was gone. My daughter then got a job, part time to pay for her adult diapers. When she died, everyone was all together. My brother held, one hand, & I held the other. Then she passed. My daughter actually went back to school to become a nurse. She said taking care of my mother, made her feel good, & wanted to help others. She's a nurse now, in Miami FL. Now, my younger daughter wants to be an RN as well.

My grandfather was just taken out of a situation like this. His son was supposed to be caring for him, but instead, just took his money and spent it until my grandfathers life savings were gone. Then, he stole my grandfathers monthly checks. My uncle is now in jail, soon to be prison. I luckily work at a senior retirement community and was able to get my grandfather moved in here asap, and they helped us financially until my grandfather could begin paying since assisted living is more costly than the independent living portion of our community. I’m so thankful. You should’ve seen my grandfather when he actually got the right meds; he was amazed that he was on these meds, as he hadn’t been getting but a couple pills a day. He ate and ate and ate and ate, since he’d never had consistent meals. He’s finally stopped hoarding snacks and food and I think he finally feels safe again. Not everyone is lucky enough to get out. Some people end up being abused without anyone knowing until they ultimately pass. I’m glad we could save my grandfather at least. See something, say something.

I’d like your comment a thousand times if I could! I am so appalled. I took care of my Mother in Law for the last 4 years of her life. I literally didn’t leave the house for more than a two hour grocery trip because she desperately needed me. Although I knew my husband would do fine, I couldn’t help but take care of her just like one of my own children. (She had very bad dementia.) I made her bedroom a little sanctuary, and even fed her by hand. I would do this for a stranger!!! It just makes me so sick and angry. When Hospice came in the last couple weeks, the Nurses would tell me horror stories about how people really are to their parents. I was in utter shock and disbelief. I never heard of a situation this bad though. God bless you and your family dear Amanda! I’m so grateful to know that there are kindhearted, compassionate, truly caring people that choose to go and help other people, every single day! I have always said that Nurses are Angels in human form. I’m sorry to write you a damn book lol. But I have to thank you. I just want to give you the appreciation you deserve. I know you’re overworked and underpaid, so it’s imperative that I remind you that God has a very special place in Heaven for you! You will receive all you’ve given, tenfold. Surely, goodness and mercy will follow you, all the days of your life, in Jesus’ name. P.S. We don’t have to share the same beliefs, I just want to bless you, because I know that my God surely loves you and appreciates you so much. You take care now dear. ♥️

Respect to you both, as always. You keep going to the cases others shy away from and covering these topics with a blunt tenderness and caring brutal honesty. You both bring awareness to people and promote stepping up when it is better to speak and be wrong than to stay silent and let a horror show continue and end in lose and trauma. You help to get others to save people like me and that is a blessing and you are the voices of so many now.

My MIL died a month or so ago and my BIL was devastated. She received as much care as he could give her and I've never seen anyone so bereft -- and I lost my husband, his younger brother, a few years ago to cancer. She died at home, surrounded by her family, in clean bedclothes and with her neighbour's ginger cat curled up on the outside window sill. In short, she had the best care we could give her. This case disgusts me no end. I hope this guy is made to suffer as much as he left his dad to suffer.

This is messed up. My grandpa required a lot of care towards the end; he couldn't walk or stand so my brother had to lift him onto the toilet and onto his wheelchair daily. We also had to lift him into the shower so he could clean himself up. He had a couple of strokes and started to develop dementia towards the end. I miss him everyday. I can't believe someone would treat their bed ridden father or grandfather like this. I love my grandparents so much, they basically raised my brother and I.

My heart breaks for the pain and suffering he went through, and I'm sure he felt (wrongly) humiliated when help came. Just a disgrace all around. Hope he is getting the help he deserves and has some peace now. As someone who took care of my grandmother (even though I am physically disabled), I cannot imagine letting this happen! If you can't do it all yourself, there is help! My grandma had diabetes, breast cancer and was slowly losing her mind. It was hard work and I got help.
