A lot of people like to help people out. Me and my husband do it all the time, it's called Paying it Forward, just an act of random kindness. All that being said, my husband was an ASC Certified Automotive Technician and while we were watching this video, he listed 10 things that your vehicle more than likely needs to make it dependable and to keep it that way. It drives him crazy when he sees somebody with a vehicle that they have to depend on, that they cannot really depend on. He doesn't like anything broken or in need of maintenance/repair...especially a light on on the dash lol

Your brother is right, its not that difficult to change brakes and rotors and its basically the same for most vehicles. Its a great thing to pick up how to do. I love teaching others how easy it is to do so they can pass that onto others. You got easy challenges like this.

Honda vans are very reliable for the most part they do have transmission problems though we've had several come in with bad transmissions

Do Not go to those little oil change places, go to a regular mechanic. They will mess other things up & not know how to fix it. Keep care of your van & it will last, regular maintenance, don't wait till it "needs it" just do it. Your dog is the best! I love her! Stay true to yourself & Do what makes you happy ✌️ (& Get some pepper spray/mace for your protection)

Your brother is a saint. Now you know how easy it is to do you can do it yourself! The only issue is usually just rusted bolts. Have you checked out Florida Water District Campgrounds? They are free and pretty nice. Dupius near Indiantown is the nicest we found, and they are free!

My first ever car was called "Jinx" as it had spent more time in garages trying to sort out problems it incurred than out on the roads of Scotland, so I took a evening class in preventative maintenance and it paid off. In the year I owned it I only once had to pay for an MOT certificate and sailed through my servicing without a hitch. So my advice Juliana is to do the same as I did , be that online or in an actual classroom environment and it will pay you in the end, when your Brother is not there to fix your problems.

Look into Ocala National Forest, camping there in certain areas. I have camped there in dispersed area and they did have free camping in an area with "vault toilets" but that was some time ago.

Your threads won't mess up on your oil pan if tightened with a socket wrench, the problem is these shops use air tools and tighten it so much it spins the threads smooth

We had an odyssey - a 2000 - loved it but the transmission went out while we were on a driving trip at 140K miles! Not worth the price to repair...but I loved the older versions as there was more headroom in the back. Now they are more sleek

Beautiful video. Your oil pan plug issues, if they did mess up your plug get plumbers tape wrap around the threads for a temporary fix so it doesn't leak.

I'm watching your video, and I thought, OMG, that's a Honda Odyssey! I bought a 2009 one back in October, but I didn't have a mechanic check it out. It had 188,000 miles, and so far I have put a battery, alternator, some solenoid, and a lot more $ in it. For me, it was a question of getting a vehicle with storage space, in case I need to move out and don't have anywhere to go. I live in NC right now, but if I had to go, I think Florida would be my choice.

Good old oil change places. Make sure you keep an eye on your oil just in case they messed it up. If the plug leaks or comes out it will drain out all your oil and you will blow your engine. He was giving you a line of crap they crossthreaded it in there more than likely . But just keep a eye on it. look for puddles under van or watch oil light.

I have a 15 year old car. 2008 Ford Focus, with over 300k. Drives like new, but it has had work done. Nothing major except the clutch, which lasted all of 300k miles. It has some leaks now as well, with a few other things, but nothing crazy.

I'm glad that you able to fix your HO Van. It socks and stressful to have car problems. Did you go to Valvoline? They did my change oil to and that's normal that they have 2-3 people to work on your car. After that less than a week my oil was leaking everywhere. And I have to get it fix. I have a Hinda Odessey too 2010. I bought it 172K miles now it's 191K 4/20. Also just a suggestion that battery cost a lot try getting a USB fan w light w a few settings works great!😊 good luck and take care🥰❤️

Just wanted to let you know that after that oil change. You should be crawling under the van and take a look at you drain plug. To make sure oil is not leaking around the bolt. And you should check the dipstick to make sure it's full of oil. Oil level is obviously critical to make it to three hundred thousand miles. That's so unfortunate they couldn't handle such a regular job 😕 and like you said now it's your problem 🙄. Good luck
