I was told that the wait is now 13 years, as of filing in Dec 2021 the requirements have changed to state “severe autism. ADP has its own definition of severe autism. So once you submit the 3” stack of necessary paperwork, APD may send the child to a neuropsych of their choice for an eval. Once you have documentation proving each term listed in 393.063 Florida statutes is accurate *by multiple practitioners APD can still deny the child the 13 year wait list. For our appeal APD gave 2 business days to present the case however we hadn’t seen the evidence and any additional evidence for the child must be reviewed 7 days prior to the case. Imagine going after a severely disabled child…sadly this is Florida in 2022. I’m not sure how these people sleep at night.

Hey can you tell me more about this? Like in order to be on this waiting list you have to have severe?? We have to move unfortunately to FL and my child has been in an RTF for 5 years d/t his level of care and behaviors

@@tammivomero8468 I just wrote this novel in a page for parents: Completely 💯 not worth the **extremely depressing\ stressful experience. As of Dec 2021 to get funding the child needs to not only be ASD 3, and prove in writing by Dr.s & phds *every single bullet point in the legislation, at the most extreme level of every bullet point, don’t bother, at least this is what more than 3 “advocates” here have relayed to me. APD has lawyers on staff, waiting to to deny children who clearly meet requirements the “13 year wait list.” One of the many APD lawyers seeking to deny eligible children formerly represented Former Florida Attorney General.) We had submitted paperwork which “wasn’t received” even though we have proof that we had sent the documents. These are just a few of the issues we ran into. If you should find anyone who has gotten a child put on the waitlist ⚠️in 2022 or after ⚠️I would be very interested to know how, or maybe *who was able to get the child on the list. There is a special need fl Facebook page on which there has been groups of parents discussing this topic and actions that we need to take to effect change here in FL. Many parents relay that children who actually got on the waitlist aged out with zero assistance.

My son is 3 and autistic. I called the agency for persons with disabilities, they were easy to get through to and the intake analyst sent me the application. I just submitted it to her. She told me bc my son is in the bracket of she 3-5 years old he’s in the “high risk” category. So we’ll see I’m hoping that will expedite the process.
