Take Stephen Hawkings as an example, one of the brightest minds to have ever lived in our world: he was afflicted with a degenerative disease that prevented him to do everything. Study hard is just one little aspect of being healthy, to keep our brain functioning, but one aspect alone is useless. What Bryan is trying to convey is the importance of every aspect of being healthy, sleep, nutrition, exercise, and so on. I've met so many people with great minds and terrible health thinking that being smart is enough...not even close, unfortunately. I've never stopped studying, there's no point in stating the amount of credentials I have, if I can't survive long enough to have a happy life, those degrees mean nothing.
@stevenkippax35 минут бұрын
@@Tiagotaf It seems probable Hawking was able to live so long with ALS (I mean he survived 55 years with a condition that usually kills in 4) partially because of his intellectual drive and desire to learn. Look at guys like Sir Roger Penrose, he's 93 and looking quite healthy and is still very mentally sharp, without any special routine or intervention, he just happens to be a genius with a desire to live to learn and discover. Look at CEOs like Warren Buffett who refuse to retire and have unhealthy lifestyle habits but survive into their late 90s. If you use your brain and you are motivated to get up everyday to work on something, your survival odds definitely go up. We even have a name for this: cognitive reserve, its shown to be protective against neurodegenerative diseases. I believe working your mind like a muscle everyday and having something important to you to work on is potentially more important than dietary and exercise interventions.

judging biological age based on physical fitness is like saying the concord is younger than the new 787 because it flies faster not the best analogy but there are more important parameters like telomeres, arteries, how healthy the cells are, the performance can be good even when the cells are old and telemoeres are short and arteries are about to give up ok here is a good example: 5 years ago I could only do 20 pushups. I trained for a year and brought it up to 40. But I was actually more healthy when I only could do 20 push ups because I was thinner and the rest of my body was younger for sure since I aged a year in that time now I can hear you say: "yes, only your muscles who can do the 40 pushups are younger now the rest is older" but the cells of the muscles are older and aged even though there are more of those muscle fibers now or whatever

Hello. This channel is good but I agree. Some of the things on it are still very vague or even unnecessary. But he does alter things as he goes along. I've never seen him be stubborn about anything when he is told otherwise about anything. For this biological age thing, the real biological age for anyone, in my opinion, is what is shown on the markers for someone who is in peak health at any chronological age, so he has it backwards. Someone in top physical health at 30 years old would have a biological age of 30 in my book, and anyone in worse shape at thirty would have a higher biological age. It's just semantics but I think also just more accurate. It's like measuring temperature. Kelvin is the correct temperature gauge because it has an absolute zero, whereas saying something is negative degrees, this is just nonsensical terminology. Have a nice day!

@jonathonpotts56663 сағат бұрын
vo2 mmmaaaaxxxxxx, there you go simple.
@ChessMasterNate2 сағат бұрын
Oh, that is easy. Just go down to 7% body fat. And do a lot of HIIT on a peloton (assuming you are going to test VO2-max on a peloton. If the test is on a treadmill, practice on that instead) and do not exercise your arms at all, only legs. Horrendous for your health. Vo2-max is just a bad test. It claims to be testing one thing, but it does not. They use your mass in the equation, and they only engage a subset of muscles. So it is not the "single best measure" because it is not a single measure. Far better would be oxygen utilization relative to lean mass. Still, I don't think even that would be as useful as it is touted to be. The reason it is an effective cheat of a measure is because it punishes body fat, while rewarding muscle mass, though, even there, it punishes having muscle not involved in the test. The real problem with this is that it makes it appear you are healthier if you have less fat than optimal, even driving some people to get very unhealthy and possibly even kill themselves. It also serves to discourage heavier people from exercising, not correctly measuring the mitochondrial gains or strength gains or lung efficiency gains from exercise...which should be reflected in a real measure of what it pretends to measure. What might be interesting is using a Multi-Axis Trainer (MAT) in combination with oxygen utilization. Those are those 3-axis gimbals large enough to contain a human being and are used for cardiovascular workouts and balance training or just something to try at a carnival, but originally for Astronaut training. I think that uses more muscles more fully than anything I have ever done. It even works all those little muscles between your ribs, you normally only feel if you have a bad, persistent cough for a few days. Trying to get those things moving fast is a huge amount of work. Don't trash your health chasing a dubious number. Improving this only makes sense relative to body fat. Reducing body fat is of course positive if you are obese or overweight by body fat percentage charts. If you are "normal", I don't think there is any legitimate science showing lower body fat is actually healthier. It may look better to some people, but it really does not matter. More important is inflammation, blood pressure, resting heart rate, arterial plaque, coordination, core strength, balance, skin health, kidney health, liver health, lung health, gut health, brain health, sensory health, and a hundred other things. In fact, lowest all-cause mortality is right at the division between "overweight" and "normal." You would think it would be in the middle of normal or right near under weight. It isn't. And it certainly is not the under 10% some people think is best.

I raised 184k and Anna Kathleen Sanford is to be thanked. I got my self my dream car 🚗 just last weekend, My journey with her started after my best friend came back from New York and saw me suffering in dept then told me about her and how to change my life through her. Anna K. Sanford is the kind of person one needs in his or her life! I got a home, a good wife, and a beautiful daughter. Note!:: this is not a promotion but me trying to make a point that no matter what happens, always have faith and keep living!!

So, are these tests supposed to be unexpected to yield the correct results? If somebody focuses on training them specifically (for example standing on one leg or pushups or grip) and gets better in them, do they have the same weight as a predictor of overall longevity?
