My husband came home and fell asleep and our 3 yr old wandered outside and fell in the pool. He did exactly what I taught him. He sank to the bottom and did the doggie paddle to come up for air and then sank to the bottom, and then back up again etc etc. Our German shepherd saw him in the bottom of the pool and began yelping like she was hurt. Our 6 yr old son went outside to see who was hurting the dog. He saw his brother at the bottom of the pool and went and woke his dad up. My son is fine, thank God. (He's 30 now) But eventually he would have tried out and drowned if not for the dog alerting everyone. And the point of the story, The Dog treated my son better than that woman treated her son. I say death by the exact same thing she did to that poor little boy.

DCFS is extremely underfunded and case workers are underpaid and have unmanageable caseloads. I am close friends with a married couple in Los Angeles county, both DCFS social workers and they work a minimum of 14 hours 7 days a week. That doesn’t include emergencies when they have to accompany a minor to the hospital etc. their workloads aren’t realistic so they push through and do the best they can. When they get home, they don’t get to relax, they’re busy writing up case reports and notes from their visits and updates that day. Most DCFS workers go into this field to help, they know there isn’t any money in this work, but they love children and want to help. Assuming laziness is the problem is as about as ignorant as it gets… there will always be bad actors in any field - police, social workers, accountants, etc. however those are few and far between.

I am not a fan of Grady Judd's personal politics, but as someone who lives in Polk County, he is a good sheriff, some people call him a media whore, but he really has lots of compassion and empathy for innocent victims, I for one like that he brings these horrible cases to light, and he has a pretty good sense of humor for the less violent offenders. No one is perfect, but the man is an staunch advocate for crimes against children, and innocent people.

I'm not from Florida but I watch his press conferences all the time. Just calling out child molesters and drug dealers, which is what should happen. My son just turned 4 and my daughter will be 7 in July…. I can’t even imagine…poor sweet baby 🥺😭❤️ When my kids fall, or are just feeling emotional in general, I comfort them and I make sure they’re ok…. I grew up in an extremely abusive household. I used to get beat severely. I was choked, kicked, smacked, slammed to the floor, spat on, spanked until I went numb and was covered in bruises the next day. I was screamed at, and mocked/laughed at by my dad and stepmom after each beating. I was forced to squat the wall, so military push- ups, 1,000 jumping jacks, run laps around the yard- even during the winter with no winter clothes. I was also forced to eat a spicy concoction that my dad made from everything spicy in the fridge. I would be told that if I threw it up- they would make me eat my vomit. I was even made to run on the treadmill for hours at a time after doing a bunch of exercises including doing stomach crunches, where I had to wedge my feet under the couch, and do as many a I was told. If I couldn’t do more, I had to do another exercise. All while being told that if I don’t stay fit, I’ll be fat like my biological mother. So even at 28- I have a hard time exercising…. I would never do that to my beautiful children. Even if they weren’t mine. I had a stepmom who hated me and was more mentally abusive than physically…. Rest easy sweet baby boy- I would have given you a life you deserved. And I’ve heard horrific child abuse cases all over the US…. I don’t get the hate for Florida specifically. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m conservative and I believe in spanking lightly. I don’t spank hard. One pat and my son stops screaming in the store. My daughter is smart and respectful and very rarely acts out… And when she does, we talk to her. We talk to our son once he calms down. Thats the worst we have ever done… the descriptions of the abuse the little boy went through makes me sick to my stomach. It breaks my heart that such beautiful, precious children get so severely abused and murdered. He deserved so much better..

He is something else! 😂 his job is difficult, it can be emotionally draining. They see so much evil, pain and suffering every single day. Having a job like this, where u have to have therapy after witnessing some of the things they have to on a daily basis and often suffering a sort of ptsd as a result is not easy. I couldn't do it! Between the trauma of witnessing these things and the anger that must boil their blood and trying with every ounce of their being not to hurt the monsters they encounter, I think I'd be in prison! Exactly 😢 Just said this the other day to my husband I listen to 3-4 different cases a day after about 5 years you'd expect I would run out on things to watch! But nope the exact opposite seems like it's a horrible epidemic and we need a full redo of our justice system and laws surrounding children; child abuse, home school and foster/guardianship we NEED TO GET MORE EYES ON THESE KIDDOS!!!

I love you guys. I love the way you cover the stories with such compassion. This story is so sad . I disagree about Sherriff Judd though. You said yourself that Florida has a lot of bad cases. I watch these stories everyday and Florida does have a lot of extreme cases. These things are happening behind closed doors. Unlike a lot of other cases where Children services are involved and the system fails . Sheriff Judd can't possibly have any of these cases on his radar . He is not letting these kids fall through the cracks. It is happening on his watch but you can't fix what you can't see. Sheriff Judd is not a physic. I live in Franklin county Ohio. There are some horrific things that happen here. I can't remember is you covered the Takoda Collins story but that was very disturbing. My own Son was murdered a few years ago he was only 28 and I had all the proof in his phone . Police wouldn't even return my calls. I wish we had a Sheriff here like Sheriff Judd. Anyway keep up the good work. I watch you everyday. Great Work!!!

Sorry, I have to disagree with the sheriff on the "lawyering up" thing. Sure, could be a clue, but it's simply the smart thing to do regardless of innocence or guilt. How often do you see police officers ENCOURAGING someone to have an attorney present?

I’m from Fl lived there 35 yrs the last 15 in Orlando. The population in Orlando grew so quick for all kinds of reasons and is very diverse. I imagine it’s very hard to keep up with what everyone is doing behind closed doors. I’m originally from New York and I can tell you it’s pretty bad there as well. Sad people are out of control.
