What Kenton is missing is that the game has changed with pay for play and the disadvantages that conferences would occur if competing against schools that can throw money at players and coaches as well as facilities. If the separation continues to become greater, then all conferences will only be feeder systems to the conferences with the most money.

The schools like WF who want this to continue until 2037 get certainly, the Miami’s get the opportunity to choose to stay or leave , and the FSU’s have certainty when they can leave. What is wrong with the idea of giving a higher percentage of bowl game/ playoff revenues to the teams that participate in those game (more for a win than a loss)? Also how about a boost based on viewership for televised games. Let the conference share be based on 50-80% of the revenues to be split between all teams. It only makes sense for the teams that are generating the revenue to get a larger share. It would give incentive for all teams to improve/promote their games.
@raystormontАй бұрын
This appears to me to be a desperate effort to get out of the litigation by re-packaging an already voted down by the members a concept of paying members for being members. Imagine any conference adopting this type of settlement. This is a giant nothing burger that has no chance of passing muster with the members. Any agreement changing the underlying grant of rights and payout schedules that favor one member over the other members must be approved by 2/3 of all the members, not ever going to pass. Maybe a preformance based incentives open equally to all members for being ranked each week in the AP 25 Getting to the ACC championship winning the ACC championship getting selected as a playoff team winning a playoff game getting to the championship game. becomming the national championship would have a reasonable chance of being accepted by enough members. Ray
@rogerwalker3409Ай бұрын
Unless ESPN has gone to the ACC and said they’re not exercising the option if there’s ongoing litigation. ESPN is apparently involved, and giving money, so no one is getting less than their current share. Gives the conference stability until 2030, when it’s well known, even by the conference, that they’re leaving then. This proposal is still based on performance, but a more important metric, and that’s ratings. The teams that bring the most ratings, will be paid the most.
@raystormontАй бұрын
@@rogerwalker3409 Their has only so far in NCAA history only one College team that has a national draw and has been able to make a singular stand alone network TV deal and that's Notre Dame. If any conference starts paying members differently based on any criteria other than preformance benchmarks which allows all members to compete equally it will undermine the conference and lead to it's demise. No school will be satisfied to pay another school just to be a member. ESPN getting involved in the middle of the litigation involving the ACC is delusional, the damages from tortious Interference would easily bankrupt even a network. The losers of the deal would be the less-watched teams of the ACC. FSU and Clemson don't necessarily want to leave, they just want to make more money. Both of these sides come away with some of what they wanted, while smaller brands who weren't involved with the lawsuit will now be paid less.

This is fairest way to due it.
