I really love how this song perfectly melds both Taylor and Florence’s music and vocal styles; neither is toned down or muddied by the other.

I love the fact that's it's a REAL duet and not just Florence doing backing vocals.

Taylor learned that when she redid SOTB 😅
@enriquesanchez90168 ай бұрын
@@JamesKovacic It's such a shame that it took Lana Del Rey for people to be outraged about that. She did the same thing with the Dixie Chicks a few years ago and no one said anything 😒 But this song is fantastic, i prefer it over SOTB actually. Florence's vocals are just AMAZING on this production and the lyrics are excellent.

@enriquesanchez9016 what song of Taylor's features The Dixie Chicks? I remember being surprised to learn Clean and Breathe featured other famous female artists - quite recently I learned it wasn't all Taylor. But she let "Nothing New" be half Phoebe Bridgers before "Snow on the Beach" came out...
@EmilyExcitedlyAnalyzes8 ай бұрын
@@JamesKovacicalso though I love the original Snow On The Beach and prefer it with Lana more being backing vocals. I think it makes sense as a single singer. I adore Lana but it sounded so lovely as Taylor envisioned it.

Do you know what it means to be credited as an "oddity" in a song. Emma Stone has that credit on this song. I don't know what that means

I mean, yes, some of the images Taylor uses are very dramatic... But I think you are ubderplaying how extreme her actual life is. She may not be in jail... But she is monitored and observed and watched 24/7 by people mostly looking to exploit her for their own paychecks (paparazzi especially). People moan that she flies everywhere in a private jet without considering that it is literally unsafe for her to fly on commercial airliners. Besides too enthusiastic fans, she constantly has at least one or two stalkers on her tail at any given time. She isn't free in her own home because of stalkers. She isn't free to have relationships without outside influence. She can hardly be anywhere doing anything without knowing that paps have long lenses that can photograph her from 2 miles away. I don't think even actual prisoners have to experience that. Pretending that her life isn't over the top minimises how abnormal her life is. It's not very cool to dismiss what she experiences on the daily. This kind of exposure has lead to the early deaths of so many celebrities. From Princess Diana to John Lennon to Marylin Monroe to Elvis. Most of her metaphors are actually quite tame when you consider how heightened the drama around her life is 🤷

I love all your reactions as a musician on Tay especially this one, n lyrics wow!! I think the part about weed or little babies, she means that of her friends, some have already settled down and others have not yet but that she is at a standstill, she wants to disappear, start over, escape either from her mistakes or a bad love and Taylor decided that Florida!!! It's the best place to do it because she loves crime stories, and when criminals have to disappear for some reason most of them have gone to Florida!!! Obviously it's storytelling, I love this song because I'm in a similar situation, not that of the criminal but the other one.

She definitely has a strong theatrical side to her. I can image her writing a Broadway musical. Maybe when she settles down a little with kids.

6:18 so, word is that the beat is actually the same amount of letters in Florida - mimicking a type writer. Don’t know if this is true. Just saying.

Yeah I have also been wondering about what the "ambience noise" is. It feels like a rubbing sound or I'd like to think it's maybe waves crashing on sands

First, I want to say how much I truly enjoy your reaction videos. I really think you have a perspective not often seen in this space. I know you mentioned that it wasn’t a bad thing or you didn’t mind when Taylor’s lyrics are a bit more “dramatic” or describing scenarios that she’s never been a part of but I just wanted to provide some insight as to why comments like these might be frustrating to Taylor’s fans. She so often has gotten criticism about how she writes her songs, specifically because she details her own experiences so vividly and without shame. She talks about everything in her life, especially her relationships. However, she has also recently started to write songs with a more storytelling nature, where she explicitly has said these are not her own experiences but instead tell a story of different lives than hers. So, when folks make comments like yours it shows that she really cannot win with how she makes her art, she’s damned if she tells her own experiences, she’s damned if she doesn’t. Again, not saying you meant this as a dig, but hoping to share instead why I think she's such an incredible song writer. She can pull emotion from you regardless of whether she's telling you her own story or one she has no experience in!

I see confusion over the weed or little babies. Meaning her friends are potheads or parents of young children.

Pretty much, I'd say! Doesn't exactly lend itself to any hidden meanings lol
