The Billy Bay Halo Shrimp is by far the best lure I've ever used for Trout and the most underrated company there is in saltwater fishing products. The foil inside the shrimp is a game changer. Great video.

Thanks for the info. As a first timer, I didn't understand any of the terminology people were telling me. You answered a dozen questions I had.

A jig head and soft plastic bait fish or shrimp imitation is the most versatile lure for the saltwater, they catch everything inshore.

Would I be able to use a 3.5” to 4.0” inch minnow? I don’t have very many jig heads and only have a uder spin jig
@richard20812 жыл бұрын
You use the Red Fish Eye jig on the Z man 4" & 5 " minnows.

Any advice on leaders material, What lb test ? fluorocarbon? Etc? I fish New England water and will be in FL this winter. We usually use 20 to 50 lb mono, but I’m guessing that’s overkill? Thx!
@TackletalkCJ9416 ай бұрын
For Florida you want to be fishing 10-20 pound braid with about three feet of 20-30 pound leader.

Ok I’m new to saltwater fishing I usually only go bass fishing, but can I use a baitcaster to catch specks in saltwater?
@nestoroniFL4 жыл бұрын
Yes just make sure whatever reel you use, baitcaster or spinning, gets rinsed thoroughly with fresh water after use in the salt.

What size swim bait was that croaker?

For anyone in the future looking for vouches I vouch for the Berkley gulp but they are expensive I think like $10 I recommend the shrimp the most of you get them. For any other soft plastic down south lures work pretty good, and big bite soft plastics too, the shrimp to be specific I use the white and chartreuse or plum and chartreuse

I’ve been fishing for a couple of years and thought about the trout eye being so short compared to my swimbait. Makes me wonder how many fish I’ve missed out on

If you want a Z Man jig head with a longer shank you need the Redfish Eyes instead of the Trout Eyes.

Help, please clarify. I watch your videos and learn a lot but there seems to be a contradiction in your taste of lures. in another video you were fishing and praising the white gulp mullet with red jighead, but in this video your favorite is the zman diesel minnow z?
@Tiftonian4 жыл бұрын
Good point. I remember seeing that video!
@noahjohns79542 жыл бұрын
The gulp is good for scent and cold as well as flounder, and the z man diesel minnow z is durable and works better in the summer. Basically they are both good but at different times

The Rapala topwater you held up was not a "Spook Jr." The Spook Jr. is a Heddon bait from Pradco. The Rapala you held up is called the Skitter V.

Always, but I find that the big girls come out the most in the winter.

Billy Bay Halo Shad is my #1 winter bait. Extremely user friendly with a simple slow role retrieve. This is in no way a finesse lure...
