Every city has it's bad parts. I lived there for 6 years with no issues.
@davidgore83112 жыл бұрын
I went to visit some family there haven't lived there in 10 years but I heard submachine guns full auto gunfire down Avalon and watching cars doing 90 down Broadway shooting at each other fully automatic weapons look like Mad Max The Road Warrior complete with dude in the hockey mask go and give us the gas and we'll let you go during the middle of the day only got worse at night. West Memphis was a s*** hole that smell like a turd was having sex with a dead fish which is what failure smells like with 250 registered sex offenders in Lake Shore alone killers and rapists escaping 350 AFCO Road while the ones that remained at Crittenden County Detention Center kept shooting each other with a 9 mm that they would hide in the shower drain it would get confiscated and another one would be found the next week every week. Municipal Court Judge William Pal Rainey used to smoke crack every Wednesday in broad daylight after court right across the street from my mama's house on Roselawn, ran over a little kid in a DUI over in Memphis and was still on the bench. Ed Paxton's gator farm got more bodies in it that I've had good days in that town. the cops blew a guy named little chief's face off in broad daylight at A1 Liquor on Broadway just to make sure everybody saw it and prove a point you don't pay you don't play and that's before it went downhill. you lived there for 6 years with no issues I live there for 37 with nothing but issues cuz I was ducking gunfire when I was six years old sleeping in the bathtub trying to keep from getting hit with stray bullets before walking through the worst Warzone ever to get to school. they need to put a wall around that place and nobody who enters is allowed to leave like it was Escape From New York or some s***.

They just didn't know where they were looking for if they wanted to show the bad parts because Mayfair apartments was just a left away from those cameras at that red light on Missouri

There are some really kind, remarkable people in West Memphis. It's a small, Southern town, but you can find visionaries, philanthropy, and committed non-profits there like anywhere. You can leave things on your porch.. in your cars and nobody touches it. You don’t see/hear people playing loud music in their cars. The police got west Memphis on lock! If/when they pull you over.. It doesn’t matter what for…. Who you are… they call like 2-3 more cars for backup. The only issue I’ve had down here is rude women. The men are ok. I'm a little late to the comment train...But here goes... There is a horrible stigma that WM (at least in part) has never recovered from, and never will. That stigma was May 5th, 1993, and I'll say no more about that. If you know, you know. As far as daily violence, gun play, shady cats, trailer parks, crime rates, and everything else...Welcome to the Delta. In fact, welcome to Arkansas in general. In the early 90s, WM had it's share of Crips, Bloods, Folks, Hoovers...Everything. Also, WM intersects 3 states and major freeways, meaning dope flows freely through the city via interstates. That's why they have a ton of state troopers there. I was raised in North Little Rock, and I can tell you that it is far more terrifying, to me at least, in Central Arkansas. And a little further south, the Pine Bluff/Dollerway area is absolutely NO JOKE! I digress...Would I stroll through the older parts of WM at 11PM on a Saturday? Hell no, because I don't belong. I am an obvious outsider. But I live in Southern California now, and we have some REAL sketchy spots out here, too. I've also lived in SF and Chicago throughout my military career. Both of which are WAY worse than WM. Crime rates are typically calculated 'per capita', so on paper, places like WM can seem worse than they really are. I treat WM the way I treat any Arkansas town. I treat the locals with respect, mind my own business, and I stay humble. I have never had an issue there. On the flip side...There are some HUGE and nice houses in WM. Problem is, lack of high paying jobs limits the cats that can afford pads like that. Stay safe, Arkansas peeps, I miss you.

To Jose and Katie, I believe, this video is an absolute insult to the good citizens of this town. Before you report on something, do your do-diligence and research what you are reporting on. First of all, you are not in Memphis, TN, you are in West Memphis, Arkansas. West Memphis is so named because of its proximity to the West side of the Mississippi River. People went West of the river, from Memphis, Tn., to this small town, to do business with the lumber mills back in the , which established residence on the West side of the mighty Sip. That is the basic history of West Memphis. Now to your position of West Memphis being a dangerous town: We have our issues but I have never felt threaten since buying a home in '89. West Memphis is not a Traffic trap town. You only showed one side of town. Where did you ascertain your 'Gang' information? You are very misinformed. It is very easy to show the downside of any town. It clearly shows that you didn't know where you were. You keep referring to our town as Memphis! You ae not in Memphis. Report accurately where you are and people will be better informed. You were first on the service rd., then turned right onto south Missouri, then Easy on Broadway.....check your FACTS next time you visit a "Dangerous" city. ------Robert

Wow! I am currently here in West Memphis visiting. My aunt's funeral was yesterday morning. After the funeral my family and I stopped in that very same area to eat at a Chinese buffet. The buffet was terrible, the service was terrible, and the cooks didn't cook any food for the customers. We literally sat there for over an hour waiting to eat different dishes but they never cooked anything. The waitress was very upset complaining to me abt a yte couple leaving her a .50c tip. I felt so bad for her. There's a famous BBQ joint (Rays Famous BBQ) around there..paid over $20 for a large rib tip dinner, they put around 10 small pieces of rib tips in my plate + small amount of disgusting bbq spaghetti, the Mac and cheese was disgusting also. Total ripoff. Drove around West Memphis AR, then drove to downtown Memphis TN then back to West Memphis to get some rest. Man I can't wait to leave this filthy town and head to back to Illinois where the grass is greener, and clean. If you want better quality of life + amenities come to Illinois.
