I moved here from Texas and will never go back to Texas again. Everywhere we go my breath is taken away with its beauty. They pour money into the library systems, state parks, and natural resources. I didn't want to move here because of all the things I heard growing up, but my family has been pleasantly surprised with just how much we love it. As far as financial blessings we have been able to start two small businesses and live a way better quality of life than we had before. Every state is going to have its good and bad. Just go where the good Lord leads you and you won't go wrong.

@bethanymckay2203 Жыл бұрын
@Lan tran The weather is pretty nice. It snows usually once a year. Not a significant amount though so nothing bad. The summer heat can get hot, but on a normal year it rains about 20 minutes a day which cools it off. Most year you have all four seasons. Of course, the weather is crazy everywhere right now so that can all change. Not too cold and not too hot in my opinion.

Moved to Arkansas from Texas last year. My husband was fed up with dealing with HOA, paying 10,000 property tax every year - thanks to rising home price. It took a while for me to assimilate living in Arkansas, but so far people that I met are so nice and welcoming. We bought our house free and clear with some three acre of land which gives us a peace of mind. Sipping coffee every morning and enjoying the nature. It's been so beautiful. I moved to outside of Fort Smith but NWA area is going to be very populated by 2030...

I live in NE Arkansas (one of the areas you consider bad) and I love it here, The land is beautiful , the people gentle and kind, and there is a lot to do - or not to do. No, it is NOT New York or Miami, and if that's your idea of a good place to live, please keep driving. All states have great and not so great towns and cities, and so does Arkansas. People of a positive mind set are welcomed to live here or to visit, but if you bring NY expectations and ideas that oppose the local values, faith and customs, then, no, Arkansas is not your best bet.

I grew up 25 minutes outside of Little Rock, and currently live in Little Rock. I lived in Seattle for a few years. On paper Arkansas looks like an amazing place to live. We have a low cost of living, low density, and a ton of public land access for outdoor activities. But, we also have some of the highest violent crime rates, lowest income potential, and political corruption in the nation. The content creator is absolutely correct, NWA is vastly different from the rest of the state. There has been a lot of money poured into that region versus the rest of the state. But, cost of living is nearly twice as much in those towns than the rest of the state. Little Rock has a lot of pros such as: big city amenities, beautiful neighborhoods, and very natural scenery. But, there are a lot of cons as well: rampant homelessness, unbelievably dangerous areas of town, local government doesn't care about fixing anything. When considering crime in Little Rock we have a lot. I don't mean burglary and drugs. I mean there is at least one homicide in Little Rock nearly everyday, no exaggeration. If you follow LRPD's Facebook page you will see reports of murders several times a week. However, most of those are domestic in nature and isolated to certain areas of town. But, it does seem to be growing. There also is very little employment opportunities in Little Rock. There are not many large companies based in Central Arkansas. This is a great region of you are in the medical field. Most of the state east of Little Rock and south of Jonesboro is pretty agricultural. If you don't farm, don't go there. There's nothing for you there. But, if you enjoy fishing, hunting, mountain biking, hiking, or water sports Arkansas is a great place to be. If you are happy to just build a pretty simple life and be outdoors Arkansas could be a nice place for you. The people are generally nice and polite. Arkansans can be judgemental, but we also get judged pretty harshly. Please be patient, we're trying to be better.
@DestructZero6471
@DestructZero6471 3 ай бұрын
The post above is wrong in several ways. First, the statement that there is "at least on homicide in LR nearly every day, no exaggeration" is, well, quite an exaggeration. According to City of Little Rock's own police stats, so far in 2024, there have been 20 homicides in LR. Now that's 20 too many, but it's not one a day. And for the huge percentage of murders and other crimes, if you stay away from areas that have a lot of drug deals, your chances of escaping crime are much better. "It does seem to be growing" is a very general statement as well. Growing where? Everywhere? My kids live north and south of LR and they have no crime in their areas at all. Now I will admit that poverty is a big problem in the eastern, northeast, and southern parts of the state. I had to relocate for work a few years ago, and we have only two weeks left in Misery and can't wait to go back home.

I live smack dab in South Central Arkansas (Camden area). We have multiple defense contractors (Lockheed, Aerojet, Raytheon, General Dynamics to name a few) that employ many people in the area here and they all pay very well. El Dorado has a lot of influence and money put into the city and schools from Murphy Oil who is dedicated to helping promote this part of the state. Magnolia is also booming and growing and has one of the best Universities in the state in my opinion. South and East Arkansas are not over run with crime as you stated. Technically, yes, because the whole state is South and East of North West Arkansas. Little Rock - yes. Lots of crime. West Memphis - yes. Lots of crime. The bottom half of the state (south of Little Rock) are not over run with crime. Other than that, great video. And nice tour of Hot Springs (could have at least shown one of the 3 lakes there).

I moved from my home state, born and raised in Florida, to Arkansas. I have to disagree with your take on Arkansas. I've been living here almost 3 years, and I'm never going back to Florida. I avoided the NW corner. I grew up in a town of 9000 that became a city of 275k in my lifetime, a span of 50 years. I can't breath with that population density. I found a small town, low crime, great property value, and low, low, low taxes here in Arkansas. I don't need a Starbucks or a Whole Foods. What I needed was nice house, on a nice size piece of land, where I don't hear anything except birds all day, and coyotes at night. I leave people alone, and they leave me alone. I have good neighbors, but we rarely see each other. I may have put 10000 miles on my car in 30 months. I do have city water, city sewer, and fiber optic internet, even way out here. I think Arkansas, I think peaceful and serene. That NW corner is nice, but it's not the only good place to live in Arkansas.

Arkansas is truly serene and beautiful for the most part but many parts of the state feels like going way back in time. I met both friendly and not-so-friendly people when I was up there. The ones in small towns seemed like they didn't like outsiders at all, especially a minority one like me (I'm East Asian, so obviously I look very different to them). They just gave off that vibe. I mean, I get it. I doubt it's specifically an Arkansas thing, though. In fact, I've had many similar experiences across the rural parts of America. Speaking of small towns -- they either welcome you with hospitality or see you as a threat (especially if you look way too different and I mean regardless of race). I wouldn't live there but would definitely visit just for their natural scenery.

It doesn't have that much stuff to do, the job market is average, mediocre, it's not all that good, easy to get in trouble, you do the same stuff all the time over and over and over again, it gets repetitive, it's a lazy state and it's not happy. I’m going to say what others have said in their comments. In every state, there is bad and good. On a lot of your videos all you do is show the bad. It’s disgusting. I can tell when you hate a particular state or area by the bias in your reporting on that particular state. If you love the state you show more good, if you don’t, you show all the bad and no good. It’s kind of like the news media. Maybe you should go get a job there.

NW Arkansas from Bentonville to Eureka Springs in one of the best, most beautiful hospitable place to visit and live in America. I used to live in Cape Coral, FL until it became little Havana II. No issue here in Arkansas. The "large Latino" population that he mentions is only near the chicken plants in Springdale, Berryville and Green Forrest. Areas like Bella Vista, Holiday Island, Eureka & Harrison remain beautiful, safe and have excellent property value and top notch schools. And no, we don't have a "delayed mindset", you called Hot Springs a "little Miami" as if it were a complement. Unfortunately, I was required to do business in Miami for years and its a 3rd world shithole where no one has the respect to speak English, Hot Springs is a Gem in the Ouachita's. It's like comparing a pile of dog shit to a rose. Also, if you feel uncomfortable, that's on you brother, Arkansans are some of the most friendly people you will ever meet. Sorry that we don't take kindly to people driving ghetto drift cars blasting rap music through our peaceful country towns. Show respect and you get respect here in Arkansas. If this doesn't work for you please stay in Miami, LA, Denver or whatever liberal cesspool you are considering relocating from.

I live in the Orlando suburbs and I hate it. I moved here 5 years ago and now I'm moving to Arkansas by next spring at the latest. The affordable housing is my biggest draw. There is too much traffic in FL, too many people moved here post 2020 and people have been super rude here since day 1. I was born and raised in VA so I've been a southerner my whole life. Can't wait to get out if here lol. I see the pay scale is exactly the same in FL and AR, but the cost of living in 50% less in AR. So many homeless wandering around in my neighborhood in FL that weren't here before 2020. Disney is the biggest employer here and they only pay $15 per hour and the average rent for a 1 bed apartment is $1600, so do the math lol.

Every place in our country is going to have positives and negatives. And your experience there whether living or visiting is going to be affected by your financial status and interests.
