I kayak off the causeway every summer over to the islands across the way and have kayaked through the mangroves at Caladesi and I have never seen shark but I have dolphin and Manatee.

Theres an old picture from at least 50 years ago of a about 18 foot great white shark caught off north anna maria island. Havent seen it online but back in the 90's i saw it in persona at a pier restaraunt.
