This video covers the Dangerous Water Adventures Alaska Tour by Jet Ski, including behind-the-scenes footage and an overview of everything required to take part on this epic journey.
The team behind the Dangerous Waters documentary series now conducts week-long guided Jet Ski tours of the region - between Seattle and Juneau - from June to October each year. No Jet Ski experience or Jet Ski licence is required.
Watercraft Zone participated in a tour as a paying guest. This video is not part of a promotion and is not sponsored content, so we can be honest about the pros and cons of our experience.

Watercraft Zone is a website about Jet Skis and personal watercraft.
We cover news, reviews, advice on Jet Skis and personal watercraft - on Sea-Doo, Yamaha, Kawasaki and others - and lifestyle aspects of the sport.
Based in Australia, Watercraft Zone is a website to help buyers make informed decisions when choosing a Jet Ski or personal watercraft.
There are three main brands - Sea-Doo, Yamaha and Kawasaki - and each is well represented across the country.
Each brand of watercraft has its fair share of pros and cons - and they all have a loyal and passionate fan base.
This website aims to outline some of the differences across all three brands, to help buyers - particularly those who are new to the sport - when it comes to choosing a Jet Ski or personal watercraft.
Watercraft tested on this website are provided by Sea-Doo, Yamaha, Kawasaki, as well as dealers who represent those brands. Sometimes we borrow a brand-new model - in standard condition - owned by a member of the Jet Ski community. Regardless of how we source each watercraft, we review them honestly.
Demonstrator models are returned after we’ve tested them, usually after a day or a weekend, although sometimes we test them for extended periods. We also buy our own personal watercraft, to get an insight into their longevity.
We access technical information from trusted experts in the industry, who specialise in a particular brand - or who have worked on all three brands during their time in the sport.
While there is a lot of passion in the PWC community - and each brand has a strong following - we aim to report without fear or favour.
We have done countless hours on Yamaha, Sea-Doo and Kawasaki Jet Skis and found each brand has unique appeal. You can read about some of the pros and cons here.
watercraftzone.com.au/myth-bu...
Suffice to say, there is a lot to like about each brand of personal watercraft - but your choice will depend on your needs.
At last count, there were 37 models across three companies - Sea-Doo, Yamaha and Kawasaki. There is a personal watercraft to suit everyone.
We chose the name Watercraft Zone so we could include all brands - and leave room for new types of personal watercraft.
You can read about the evolution of personal watercraft, its inventor, and the Jet Ski name here.

Good luck in your search for a new Jet Ski or personal watercraft, and please let us know what else you would like to see on the site: info@watercraftzone.com.au.

Thank you for the feedback. This is the longest video we have published so far and it took some time to put together. The footage was just so stunning we didn't want to leave anything on the cutting room floor. We were blessed with the weather, which made the whole experience - and the footage - ever better. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for sharing this. As an owner of this exact model Jet Ski with a significant amount of experience doing endurance rides, this is very appealing. Definitely on my bucket list!

Thanks for the note. I highly recommend the trip but the icebergs are only on certain legs of the journey, so if that's important to you be sure to check with the organiser. It's very expensive to do the trip, and it's expensive off the water, too. But Alaska is a magical place and the people are awesome.

It was honestly awesome. It's not cheap, but it's a great adventure if the budget stretches that far. Just be sure to do some ocean riding first, so you're well prepared. Most of the water was glassed out for us, but expect a few days of rough water and rough weather. That said, if conditions are too severe, tour organisers will pull the pin on that day and travel the next day, to ensure everyone is safe.

holy incredible!!! getting out new explore pro Seadoo will help make for a nice ride like this. Im a seasoned seadoo riding and familiar with riding in choppy waters, with the locations provided in the videos what would you say was the biggest assets of the guides for this trip? I want to understand what I would lose if going without them. With that said, we will have in reach Garmin and Marine VHF radio. As far as fuel, at one of your stops it shows the dodge trucking coming down, I imagine that was set up privately?
@WatercraftZone
@WatercraftZone Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the note. I would not attempt to do this ride without the guides unless you are proficient at navigation and have super-reliable equipment. It is very easy to get lost in the maze of channels and islands, and there is little to no phone signal for the most part. It can also be difficult to get fuel in some of the more remote areas, so the guides have all this hooked up before they head to the next destination. It's also worth noting we got lucky with weather. It was glassed out for most of our trip. But we were told there is usually a day or two of weather severe enough on each trip to pause the journey. So if you do attempt it, factor in some days off the water - and call ahead for fuel and accomodation. You will also need to secure a spot on the docks, which is an extra expense. Hope this information is helpful.

Do you get to jump off and have a swim at any points? Or is it way too cold even in winter?
@WatercraftZone
@WatercraftZone 7 ай бұрын
Definitely too cold for a swim. That said, one of our awesome guides had to jump in the water to remove some debris from a jet pump on one of the days. Yeooooow.

The Kawasaki Ultra platform was great for that trip (most storage in the class, strongest hull). But I reckon a Sea-Doo Explorer Pro with a decent fuel rack / luggage rack could deliver better fuel economy.

Just wondering why so many people call all PWC a Jet Ski, which is the model made by Kawasaki?
@WatercraftZone
@WatercraftZone Жыл бұрын
Great question. Yes, Kawasaki coined the Jet Ski name - and the generic term for these vessels is Personal Watercraft. However, Jet Ski has become common-use language to describe the category because so few people know what a Personal Watercraft is.

Same reason sometimes an adjustable wrench is called a crescent wrench or a skid steer is called a Bob Cat. Good company marketing.

Are these ski's mostly Kawasaki 310LX supercharged?
@WatercraftZone
@WatercraftZone Жыл бұрын
The Kawasaki Jet Skis in this video are the Ultra LX (160hp, non-supercharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder). Honestly speaking, they were plenty fast enough. The Kawasaki Ultra LX was a great craft for this journey and the strong hull was helpful around the icebergs and super-stable in rough chop. I have a new respect for the Kawasaki Ultra hull after spending over a week on it. But the bulky reverse lever is a bummer, and awkward to use. Thankfully the 2023 Kawasaki Ultra LX has a reverse trigger on the handlebars.

Wish you would have left out the annoying music and let us listen to it’s natural sound.
@WatercraftZone
@WatercraftZone 2 ай бұрын
Sorry about that. The music actually takes a while to add to the video and costs us money for the copyright to use it. If there was no music and we left the original sound you would hear wind rush, the hand gripping the phone, engine noise, and the yelling of instructions etc.
