I know this video hasn’t even played yet, Julien, and I also will respect your opinion based on reading the description, but the reason I still skipped out the Empire State Building is given the fact they totally ripped out the manually controlled elevator that goes to the 102nd floor, and I honestly have been wanting to see it in its original state for so long ever since I first saw a video of that particular elevator from back in 2006. After finding out in 2019 that it’s now officially gone, I just flat out skipped this place permanently. Yeah, I know they built the old vintage 1931 historic Otis elevator control system as a simulated museum piece of sample which is definitely great, but I’m still likely not going to see the Empire State Building at any point in time when I return to New York City in April because the nostalgia just kills me. Not sure if you also know, but I’ve also heard that the Top Of The Rock elevators at Rockefeller/General Electric Building have replaced their ceiling projector screens. So glad I got a much better view just in time last year before they are now gone.

And the manually controlled elevators in the Carew Tower in downtown Cincinnati have been modded like 60-70 years ago by Westinghouse and again in the 90s/2000s by a generic company; Schindler is modding them soon because that tower and the connecting Netherlands Plaza Hotel are getting converted into apartments. There is an elevator that goes from floors 45 to 48 to the observation deck (accessed by an additional stairway) at the top of the tower. The hotel elevators were manual as well and were modded long ago by Westinghouse, then by a generic company; Schindler might get their hands on those too. The Carew Tower had Adams fixtures and the Netherlands Plaza Hotel had Innovation; I think they retained their original cabs from the first mod. The elevator near the top of the tower is the only original cab in the whole building, but still it has gone through a couple of mods. The low rise ones go up to 21 and the high rise ones go up to 45; it’s half the height of this NYC building, but built at the same time. You haven’t even visited Cincinnati yet.

I completely understand where you're coming from. Personally I do still think it's worth seeing at least once in your lifetime. But after that, you don't need to come back here. It's a cool building, but the newer observatories are definitely better both view and elevator wise IMO and the price to get in here is definitely ridiculous. But it is worth doing once given how iconic and famous this building is IMO. The elevators here are nice, but I do definitely wish they kept the manual elevator here as well

Thanks for the video. The construction workers look realistic. This will be on my wish list if I visit NY. Are you using the Sony Ax43 for the tour? I need a new cam for my next year's US tour.

Most of this video was recorded with my Galaxy S22 Ultra, but some of the Viewing sections were recorded with my AX43. It's a good camera, but it only shoots in 4K at 30fps and it does get grainy in low light situations
