I usually sleep as much as possible on Thursday and Friday before the marathon(usually on Sunday) because I’m sometimes nervous Saturday night. I consume electrolytes based on heat and humidity. I try to run even splits every mile. And, like you said we need to consume so many more calories than the normal. I’m in the 60 grams/ hour range. I’ll try the 90g/hr range at my next marathon. And I’ll attach my electrolyte caps to my energy gels! Thank you Floris! And congratulations on a job well done at London! You finished strong!

The best mantra I've heard lately is "win or learn." It's easy to get stuck in your own head when a training run doesn't go to plan, but even a 'failure' is experience gained that can make you stronger when the next run starts. Amazing run, congrats!!

Congrats on your sixth Star Floris, huge achievement! Many great lessons here, great advice. Hard to pick a favourite. For me personally, I have most dialled in and the hardest is the starting out conservatively. It's so hard to not get carried away because of how easy it feels, by the energy of the crowds, to get lured into the trap of 'banking some time' only to loose double that time in the second half of the race... I haven't mastered the negative split on the marathon yet! On tip for something that gives me a lot of piece of mind on raceday: I always try to do a dry run of the pre-race routine (walking to the bagage drop of, walking to the start, knowing where the toilettes are, visualising where I'll do the warmup, etc) the day before. Come race day, I know exactly what to do and how long everything will take. Cheers from the Netherlands!

Massive congratulations on the Sixth Star. So very well deserved. I love the raw emotion at the end. It’s an emotional journey. Without the support of loved ones in our lives, it’s near impossible to accomplish. Such wonderful takeaways. Always pace yourself. Too many runners get too emotional at the beginning. It leads to struggles at the end. So happy for you.

I have a friend who got his wheel last year in Tokyo and this marathon also happened to be recognized by Guinness World Records as the most people obtaining that wheel of medals. I just mentioned this because you touched my heart with your words of appreciation to your family. You really had me going as well. Im preparing for my first marathon in the midst of some chaotic but manageable issues at the same time. Congratulations on your great accomplishment and thank you so much for sharing your experience, wisdom and compassion.

Congrats Floris! An absolutely killer achievement. I love the raw emotion you express during the run. It’s hard work and you show it. My happiest moments are seeing the hard work on race day. I find I regularly doubt my capability during workouts, but race day tells the story!

Congratulations! It was on honor to see you for a split second during your time in Boston!! My group was cheering you on. The biggest lesson I learned and still need to remind myself is take the easy days easy! Coming from my high school running days where we all just took easy days much much to fast, it took years to recognize the need for patience and to just understand how my body responds to easy days. Thank you for your videos and I’ll hopefully see you on a future race! Best of luck everyone for the give away!

Awesome video! I think the biggest lesson for me is to "run in the moment, and run relaxed", since it is so easy for me to focus on how hard it is and not about how fun it is. Keep up the great work man!

So happy for you Floris! Coach, you lead by example, and the keys you offer make all the difference. Under-fuelling is a big challenge, you helped me with this. But, it’s the ability you share and show to dig deep and push … I still need to be better here! And the hat backwards, getting down to business, love it brother 🙌

Congratulations, well done! Also, great tips, thanks for those :) Best lesson from this video is " Dont think too far ahead ", because im always doing it and its making my long runs harder then they actually are.)

Congrats! Amazing achievement on the 6 stars. I'm emotional just watching you achieve your goal. I'm running my first full marathon in under 2 weeks. Thanks for sharing your journey. I'm getting pretty stoked, too. Love your takeaways and advice about finishing the race and pushing too hard and cramping at the end.

Great video! I felt the emotions in the video! Hopefully, next year, it will be me running the course. From what I can see, the key lesson is nutrition during and before the marathon.

Fantastic video thanks Floris. As part of training I like to do Parkruns regularly at my max pace. This helps me psychologically for longer events - with 5kms to go, I know "I've got this - it's just one Parkrun" and trust that muscle memory will take over and give me a final boost to the finish line

Congrats on finishing all six Majors! You are usually so chilled even when things get tough, and I don’t recall ever seeing you get emotional. Can tell this is a big deal for you. I myself am aiming for sub 315 later this year and will check out your program. Cheers!

Thank yoU! I've had a few other races and running experiences with high emotions (Berlin video and Lawrence van Lingen interview video for example), but London surely was a special place to race. Exciting Sub 315 goal this year, enjoy the process!

Hey Floris, great to see you upload so soon after Sunday. Big thrill to see you in person for the shake-out amd raffle; very delighted with my Path Projects cap. The Path Projects gear looks awesome. I remember your two takeaways before the shake-out which you also mention in the video and that is to fuel up early on and watch the pace at the start - soooo true. V.important to maintain your taget pace; the euphoria can have you almost running at speed interval pace. Good advice from you which I passed on to our marathon team of 12 runners. Inspiring stuff, great to see you and hopefully bump into you at another event. 👍💪🤜🤛
