it's marketing. It's not really a million dollars with taxes but truth be told, she makes so much more than everyone else on the team and in the league so why would anyone want to play with her?

What's wrong with that? Sports need ambassadors. Little girls need heroes. 90% of the MLB "stars" are overpaid, lazy mediocre talents who barely interact with fans. As the father of a fastpitch player who is just starting out, I'm thrilled to see someone like this emerge as a role-model for little girls.

Why do people always have to comment something like that, you never see us comment "wow a softball player could tee off of that", you simply cannot compare the two sports. Baseball fields are bigger, the ball is smaller, the pitching distance is further. On a softball field, the field is smaller, the ball is bigger giving it more surface area and the ability for more movement. Please just understand that Softball is not harder than baseball or that baseball is not harder than softball.

Um. No. It's been proven many times that baseball players have a very hard time hitting fast pitch softball pitches. Most famously, Jennie Fench struck out Albert Pujols at the top of his game. She also went up against Barry Bonds in his prime, and he wouldn't even attempt a swing. You're smoking crack if you think you could even make contact with most of these pitches. Your reaction time would need to be on-par with an MLB batter, and you'd need to figure out how to hit a pitch that fast that is RISING, not dropping. My wife was a college pitcher, and you don't realize how fast those pitches come from that distance until you're standing in that box.

@@McScott76 I am sure that MLB hitters would adjust and be able to hit softball pitchers, but who really cares? Softball is a great sport to watch. I prefer it to baseball most of the time, and I grew up playing baseball and idolizing the best players.
