Your video came at the right time. I’m watching while wearing a chemo cap so my bald head won’t be cold. I’ve been comforted by your videos but I now feel a higher power brought me here. Thank you for the comfort your voice brings. I will look for moments of delight and beauty and remind myself to cherish them.

Lovely visit with you today. So much to ponder. We are often drawn to things, or people, and begin them, well before we understand why. The lesson beckons, offers itself, we just have to be willing, a little bit at a time, to find out what it is. We learn, we teach, we grow on. And the sun just came out. so ... yay! lol. My daughter and her daughter are empaths - very "present" people as well. That is why people tell you things... they feel you are there in the moment WITH them, so they feel safe, heard and seen. Too often our minds are "elsewhere" during interactions with people. Either your yoga practice taught you the magic of the present, or you already knew it and so were drawn to yoga practice. "It doesn't matter" which xoxoxo

This reflection thing is an absolute gift, I think. It helps us come to understand and process the things that happen directly to us in this life of imperfection. I LOVE meaningful conversation! You have an understanding of humanity that is very important ❤️. See you soon, Jackie.

Your words have touched me so today as I can not explain. My Leukemia has been in remission for a little over 12 months now. Even in remission it can be hard to move on some days and life as we know it is not the same again. it's wonderful to hear you have found great purpose and I hope to find peace and purpose again in my life before too long. My stitching has helped me through some difficult days and your flosstube does as well. Thankyou so much for taking the time to do your videos and thankyou for sharing such a personal story with us all.

You are much appreciated. I am 74 and feel like I didn’t have time for self discovery until after retirement. Life was just too busy for ME. Don’t wait ladies until you think you have the time to explore you and savor moments of peace and reflection. I am truly blessed that I have had that time. Quilting and cross stitch and scrapbooking has been a part of that.

I can't write for others, but I share things out of my personal bag of goodies with those I think will either use them or enjoy them more than I do, I've been known to buy the same chart twice. So one of them needs a good home and so on. It's also nice to find someone of my age doing flosstube. And part of this song came to mind "The bright blessed day, The dark sacred night, And I think to myself, What a wonderful world." From "What a Wonderful World" songwriters George David Weiss and Robert Thiele. My favorite version song by Louis Armstrong. I know it is not so wonderful for others, but I know there is something each of us can do to help make it a little more wonderful for someone else and I just want to thank you, Jackie for making my world a little more wonderful. Blessed holidays to you and yours.

Someone who hates small talk as much as I do. I can certainly appreciate that. I'm a former hospice nurse, who got used to having very serious life conversations one on one with patients. It really colored how I feel about small talk now. I prefer a serious conversation any day. And as a hospice nurse, I can tell you that the mind is a very powerful tool in conjunction with your body. And I'm all about empathy, healing and deep conversation. Mary Oliver is my favorite poet, but if you haven't read Maggie Smith, I highly recommend her. I look forward to meeting you in Mesa at the Attic. Thanks for sharing as always.

Thank you. I can only imagine that you had some really amazing conversations with your hospice clients. You were doing really a very special service for the whole family. I’m not sure my sisters and I could have navigated my Mom’s transition with the grace that we were able to without the support of the hospice nurses. 🩷

❤ I had my first mammo two years ago. While I didn't have cancer, I wound up going through 3 different mammograms because they found something suspicious and wanted to look at it more closely. I very vividly remember sitting in the waiting room, trying to reassure myself and not let the fear creep in, after the second one and waiting for the third one, which was an ultrasound. It definitely changes your perspective and the way you look at things. Thank you for sharing your story. I am glad you are here with us. I've found myself doing a lot of reflection the last 6 weeks or so, in this transitional time of year. I very much enjoyed the video and seeing Archie. he's such a distinguished gentleman.

Over the past 2 years I have really leaned into cross stitch as therapy as well. I'm in the heart of my sandwich stage of life. My youngest is a high school senior and my parents are battling Parkinson's and dementia. In the midst of all of that is still "normal" life. CS has helped to quiet my anxiety and give me a sense of accomplishment especially on those days I feel like I'm failing. It helps to see physical progress on something in my life. I agree with the others that your voice is soothing. 😊 Plus your stitching is beautiful 😍

Thanks for another great video. I always enjoy seeing what your working on. When I see floss tubers show the back of their work and they don’t know they are doing it, I play a little game to see how long it takes for them to figure it out. I think you are in the lead! You showed all of yours before you realized it. But, it is very neat! Thank you for sharing your cancer story. I too am a survivor. I was diagnosed in 2008 at 53, had 3 lumpectomies before the doctor got a clean margin and 6 weeks of radiation. It happened within one year as I never missed a yearly mammogram. I have to admit I get nervous every year when I go for my exam, but so far so good!

Thank you for sharing your story with us. I'm late to listen to this episode as it just happens that my father passed away three days after this posted recording. It was unexpected but very peaceful, here at home. I've been his caregiver for more than 10 years and spent every day with him. We had a really good routine going. Although others had commented on the "work" I did for him, it never felt like that. And only in his passing do I realize how much of my day was spent tending to him. I only write this because of your poem at the end of this episode. It was the perfect thing for me to hear and "interpret" with thoughts of my father. Thank you again for sharing things that may seem trivial to some or have a different meanings to you, but allows us to incorporate your journey into our own.

I was so happy last night when I saw you had posted a new flosstube; but knew I couldn’t watch it right then. I’m glad I waited until this afternoon when I had time to concentrate on your soothing voice and thoughtful words. I’m always glad for the reminder of ‘no cross stitch police.’ Life can have so many rules, expectations, and people that want to be in charge. It really hit home when you said, ‘accept what it is, and move on.’ You were specifically talking about the white stitching, which has been driving me crazy. But after numerous frogs and restitchings, I finally was able to not frog it one more time, and leave the stitches in place; and now I have to study to see them. What a relief 😅. I am in love with your new Barbara Anna start of Light(not sure I have the name correct), the beautiful fox 🦊 and want to find it and start. I like the seasons SAL with the Barbara Anna girls, but will pass on it, though I’d love to be in SAL with you.😊 And just WOW! Bridget is getting more beautiful, and I am stunned by the back. I feel your mixed emotions about finishing her, she spent a lot of time with you, but will love seeing her in her frame and being a special piece for you to share in AZ at Symposium. 💛 Every time you show Antoinette, I think I love her more. Someday, perhaps, I’ll try her, she is so gorgeous. And the other SAL with your Across the Pond group looks very special, too. Now to the most important project, what your life is about. Thank you for sharing your cancer journey, and the larger purpose of ‘speaking to healing.’ You put into words what I have felt, the language of war does not speak to healing. My own journey has not been a physical illness, but a constant, well traveled road of clinical depression diagnosed in the late 1980’s at about 45 years of age. It has not been easy, and it has caused many major life changes. And as I approach 82, I still reflect and search for continued peace, hope, and comfort. The Mary Oliver poem ‘Snow Geese’, love things that do not last, find a moment of delight and beauty; that you read in your calming, comforting voice spoke healing to me. Thank you, Jackie, for being yourself, for sharing yourself so freely and openly, for speaking to yourself, and to me of healing. Namaste 🙏🏻💛 Happy Holidays, Peg 💛

Lovely visit today. We never really know what others go through. Sharing brings us closer. Though I have not had cancer, I do have health issues that slow me down and are difficult to deal with mentally at times. Stitching does allow for inner reflection and helps me through the very difficult times. I am looking to both upcoming SALs and knowing others will share in stitching with me brings so much Joy. Happy holidays to all. May you find Peace and love.

Thank you. I will also be 64 in a few weeks. This year I have made 2 things a priority. One is to do what gives me joy and the other is to have around me what gives me pleasure. My life has changed considerably because of this. The smallest of things like sitting alone by the river taking in the beauty of nature and being in the now is priceless. My stitching can never have a price tag, as I am transformed into a world of peace and tranquility when I take my needle in hand. Embracing time alone and just being. Thank you Jackie. Have a wonderful Holiday Season 🌸💞🌸

Thanks for trusting us with your story. I know what a big deal that is. I was diagnosed with breast cancer in June of 2021. Navigating cancer during the pandemic was challenging. I went months without seeing some of my family in person, and then often out doors. After genetic testing revealed an abnormality, I opted for a bilateral mastectomy and then had 17 rounds of chemotherapy. My next check up is in January and I'm very grateful for my life. Thanks for taking us along on your stitching and life journey.❤❤❤

Thank you for this flosstube. I'm beginning to understand why I feel connected. I stitch mostly HAEDs, so our styles in stitching are very different. But you show that the love for this craft is not in the amount of stitches or WIPs. My plans for 2025 aren't about finishes but about feeling comfort in stitching. After struggling with mental and physical problems, I decided that working for 47 years is enough, and I'm retiring in a few weeks. I hope this will change my pace and will help me to heal some more. 🪡🇳🇱🌷

Another wonderful episode, Jackie. I so appreciate your outlook on life and your ability to put it into words for others to hear. Somebody needed to hear what you had to share today. I don’t watch the news on a regular basis, but I did the other day when we had a 7.0 earthquake in Northern California. I had to turn it off…battle/warfare language was being used in the reporting of the earthquake. I don’t need to hear that. On a lighter note, I have my Four Seasons all kitted with four different fabrics. I haven’t decided if I’ll sew them together into one piece or finish them separately. ❤

Hi Jackie, I am amazed how beautiful your Bridgette sampler is turning out. You do such good work. I am thinking about joining the last SAL you shared with us, starting in January. I already have many WIP' s . Thinly sew along I have done is the Summer Camp hosted by Colorado Cross Stitcher. I'm leaning toward go c. giving your' s a try. Thank you for sharing about your journey with cancer. My husband has felt with colon cancer for hears. He turned 85 and maybe facing it again. He was in remission for 10 years, then it raised its ugly head again and he had his third surgery a couple of years ago. He is having a colonoscopy January 29th. We are praying that it isn't cancer again. We are strong Christians and our faith in God carries us through. Blessings to you and happy stitching.

Thanks for sharing your story with us. Our paths have taken such similar paths it’s erie. I was 32 in 1993 spending Thanksgiving with my family when I shared with my mom a lump I’d found in my breast, on December 7 I had a mastectomy. I live in Jefferson City. Everyone I meet tells me their life story but I have such compassion and empathy. I’ve also lost an adult child, when you walk many paths you share many stories others also carry.

Funny you should mention white stitches. I am stitching a moon in white and pale blue and am going to have to frog it and re-think. I find any light colours never look good. I have bemoaned this before and I think it was Krista Gramer who said, it's the reflection on light colours. I guess we should be thankful it's not across all stitches. I am using 40 count, 1 thread. I don't know if the stitches would look better stitched in silk - I don't have any light coloured silk to try. The light seems to catch all the imperfections in the stitches. Am working the Danish method and in a hoop and I waxed my thread (no better dampening down with water either). Thanks for your lovely videos and showing us Archie again, he is adorable. Merry Christmas.

Jackie, gosh, thank you for digging down deep and sharing your cancer story today. I don’t have cancer but could relate to your receiving harsh health news “alone”. Also, the time of year gets me, too, as I lost a childhood friend 25 years ago Dec 6. My faith gives me hope but it still muddies my mood, ya know? So glad to have found you on FlossTube all those months ago and looking forward to the 4 Seasons SAL.
