The only local stitchery shop I can get to is Stitches Unlimited in Lancaster PA. I've only recently taken up my needles and hoop again after 5 years, so I revisited the shop and found it a haven of stitching goodies. So much has changed since I started cross stitching in the early 1980s, mostly the finishing, so I haven't yet embraced that part (but am trying to think beyond the frames for the smaller items). I'm always excited when I am notified about a new vlog of yours! It makes my day ❤

I fanatically picked up cross stitch again after a time spent learning to crochet where I discovered u-tube tutorials. Well, I innocently started looking into u-tube cross stitch and boy oh boy it’s been a wild last 18 months LOL. I love to shop at 123 cross stitch because the website is easy to get through. I’ve discovered some other shops since then, as recommended by floss tubes Country Cottage, FQS, and Color and Cotton, and the one I’ve spent the most is FB cross stitch unloading 😮

I don't have an LNS super close to me. I did recently get to Deer Hill Farm Cross Stitching in Hyde Park NY. It's small but mighty. They have a big selection of everything you need to stitch. They have a table for stitching and the woman there was friendly and helpful. I usually order from 123 Stitch.

I have one local needlework shop called Needles in the Haymarket, Haymarket, Virginia 0:06 that is 35 minutes from my home and they also carry beautiful yarns for knitting and crochet. My favorite online shop is Anabella’s in North Carolina. Your two WIPs look very pretty and I am stitching along with the Hometown mystery SAL with you and many others. I don't have a local needlework shop, but when I visit my son in Maryland, I head to the Stitching Post in Catonsville, Maryland. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have access to online shops as the nearest needlework shop is 2 1/2 hours from me, and it's very tiny. I just went to my local needlework shop last week, to pick out some Weeks Dye Works floss. It's so nice to be able to see the floss in person. The store is Cross Stitch and Crafts, in Johnson City TN, and is about 20 minutes from my home. Sassy Jacks is about 40 minutes from me, so I'm looking forward to their reopening.

I so enjoyed watching the parade of other people’s finished work. They were all just stunning and their personal words what it meant to them. Going to be interesting with three dogs in the household. You have a very busy life. It seems like you have everything balanced out with your personal life and work. I must have missed the picture of your Christmas gift. Hi, Teresa! Will those of us who have been in the Patreon the whole time of the SAL have a way to get a pdf of the whole pattern? I don’t like to do page-wise stitching (like half of a motif at a time), so I had been planning to stitch “behind the curve” so that I could do whole buildings at once. But if we will only ever have one page at a time I’ll still have to try to assemble the pattern in order to see the whole building at once, if that makes sense. I completely understand why you want to do it this way, I just want to know what I’m in for once I start. 😊

Sorry, but there would be no way for me to know who’s been in the SAL the entire time in order to give a full page chart. But if you print each page off every month, you could put it together like a map. It would be a large map.

The tall Angel is actually one of my designs from Demdaco several years ago. The floss wall is nothing that I sell. It is my personal inventory that I use for designing and Stitching. I will try to show a picture of my mom‘s puppy as soon as I can get a decent picture of her. She is a little busybody and it’s hard to get her to sit still long enough to get a decent photo.

I do appreciate the principle of everyone buying only new charts from ‘legit’ sources but in practice it’s complicated. I attended a high end retreat that cost $2,000 for 2 days of stitching not counting airfare. Several charts were included often with threads. There were two HATS booklets with the called for silks distributed. I knew I would never stitch them. What was I supposed to do with them? You say I should not sell or give them away. Should they go in the garbage? That is a terrible waste. I sold them, they were stitched up and I recouped a bit of my cost. Maybe not an ideal solution but the best choice for me.

Not sure where this is coming from because I don’t think I talked about it in this video, did I? I understand your situation. Here’s where I’m coming from on this topic…. Designers work very hard on their business. Some of us rely on it for our income. So if someone bought a readily available chart, stitched it and then gave it to her friend to stitch, then she gave it to another friend to stitch …..and so on, the designer lost out in the sales of that chart. I feel if a pattern is available in the marketplace it should be purchased and not shared. There are unique circumstances such as yours where it is better to sell or gift an exclusive chart rather than throwing it in the trash.

You did not talk about this on your video. I paused it to check your website and found your section under freebies on copyright and selling charts. The resale market has taken hold and there’s likely no stopping it. Overall perhaps it won’t hurt designers business. Stitchers are likely to want more charts from a designer that they first found thru resale. And those that follow popular designers like you always want the latest charts first. They won’t wait for secondary market. Hopefully the free market will strengthen sales and introduce new stitchers to our world.
