Hi Sarah, I’ve been randomly watching your stitch alongs in the evening while I’m working on one of my smaller WIPS. I do enjoy all of your videos and came on here to tell you that like you I love a wide variety of patterns to be stitching from full coverage pieces to smaller pieces. I don’t have as many as you do,but I’m 80 so I need to live a real long time to finish what I have. 😅 I get so inspired by your videos. Thank you for all the encouragement you give to stitchers!

The rose is coming along nicely. I hope your pickup stitching goes well. I am working on comfort lighthouse which is challenging but I love it. My two year old granddaughter takes my stitching time but she is only young once and I live her.

Hi Sarah! So much fun to see your plans for ABZingo! I’ll be participating in Sampler September since I have a few samplers in my WIPS. I’ll also be starting 7 new projects as part of my 60 for 60 starts this year! Thankfully I’m trying to pick smaller projects for these starts and have already finished a bunch! You’ll find your groove with the travel stitching projects!

I hope you find the time you need to put together your WIP parade because it is so fun to see all your projects! I’m almost hoping you save Those Who Sing for my birthday month. Thank you! I’m still at the River House so I only have four projects with me to stitch. I’m feeling the urge to stitch on Castle Homecoming and Margaretha (my birthday stitch) in September but they’re not with me so have to wait. Have a wonderful week! ❤

You don't have to cut Dimensions kit floss from the cards, if you pull the strands one by one they come off easily and clean, whenever you need to use them. The rest will stay secure. Even half an inch may help sometimes. I love dimensions kits organizations and use them as they come. Nice video, thank you.

I really hope you can unpick what you have stitched on Tea&books, as that fabric is still my favorite for this project 😉 You said you are doing half stitches, do you think it is faster stitching half stitches on full coverages? I know I am not used to doing tent stitch and it messes with my thinking of the way I want to stitch, but as I am not doing a mini anymore, anything that might help me finish this piece in my lifetime is worth a try. I would still be doing two strands on 18ct. Please let me know what you think. I love the color of your T-Shirt and there seems to be a butterfly on it 👌🏻🦋 Happy stitching until we start together on Friday 🪡🧵🥰🥳
@StitchinMommy3 ай бұрын
@@FrostyXStitch I do think using half stitches is faster on full coverages. But it’s only effective as an option if the threads fill up the square as much as possible. It works best on high counts. I think I’ve seen some people do it on 18ct, but you’d need to use 3-4 strands to not have fabric show through. Definitely stitch the way you enjoy with something this big. It could be something to try on a smaller project to see if you like it at all, but you probably don’t have time to test things out before Friday. 🤔
@FrostyXStitch3 ай бұрын
You are totally right, I would have to test it before starting a large project like this. I know a lot of people use one strand, full cross, on 18ct, so using 2 strands tent should potentially be ok. Also I don't mind a bit of fabric showing through on my full coverages, if I don't have to poke my needle through too much floss in every hole. But I do remember my Anchor kit, where there are sections of half crosses, to mix up the texture and the background - foreground of the picture and I had a really hard time finding my way while stitching. So I guess I will be starting tomorrow with 2 strands, full cross on 18ct. 🥳 Will you start by unpicking first? I hope that goes well, fingers crossed 🤞🏻 I can't believe I am re-starting after so many stitches and doing a full size 😳😂At least I a not alone 🥰

You use a lot of fancy flosses. What storage method do you find works better for you? I’m discovering I despise the floss drops that fancy floss comes on. I’m frustrated with fancy flosses that come in a long strong that’s looped through 1 hole so I either have to unhook & unwind a length, or rewind and cut the entire thing into working lengths. But other companies come precut so you always get frustrated with not remembering how to use each skein. Plus with cats, a floss drop looks like a tempting toy to them. I also find it harder to find my needed fancy floss if it’s drop is in a pile of other colors, bobbins lined up just are more logical to my brain. I’m currently testing putting fancy floss on bobbins…but labeling the bobbins is a challenge. (As is precut fancy flosses…those won’t work well on a bobbin.) I’m enjoying the 3 bobbins I’ve converted, and I am considering looking for larger (cardboard?) bobbins one can label easier. I only have about 4 brands of fancy floss with 20 skeins between them all so not a huge project to do, but the fancy floss tags have so much information one might want to keep… If I bought a giant hank of silk, obviously bobbins wouldn’t work, one might need to wind their own cone, so there would still be oddball storage methods needed. So what are your thoughts on bobbins vs floss drops? Edit: for dimensions kits, I make floss cards out of cereal or cracker boxes. I keep the original thing they were on just in case, but I’ve got room for all my leftover bits, and I can make my blends have a home too.
@StitchinMommy2 ай бұрын
I put all my fancy floss on bobbins. I keep them lined up in floss boxes, organized by brand, then alphabetical. For DMC, I put the number on the top left and the word "DMC" on the top right, so I have adopted that method for fancy floss, too. I'll put the name of the floss on the top left of the bobbin and the brand of floss on the top right. Then, I can line them up in my box and be able to read pretty easily which is which. If a thread comes in one long string, I'll wind it on the bobbin just like DMC. If it comes precut, I'll still wind them on, but try to stagger the ends in the little slits on the bottom of the bobbin, so all the ends aren't in the same slit. When I add a new length to the bobbin, I make sure it's covering the loose tail of the previous length, so there will only ever be one loose tail available to pull - that of the topmost length. When I was in the Victorian Motto thread of the month club, her skeins came with 20 yards of floss in pre-cut lengths. I would just divide them onto two bobbins of 10 yards each. They were fatter than typical bobbins (DMC is 8.7 yards and many fancy flosses are 8 or 5 yards), but it still worked. If I were to get a hank, I would just figure out how many yards total were on the hank, then divide that out to how many bobbins I would need to use to store them effectively.

With Dimensions kits I braid the threads in one long thick braid per card and then pull one thread at a time for a loop start, I also photocopy the symbol chart and thread my remaining through the photocopy. I’ll send you a photo on Instagram :) Love your channel!

Hi Sarah, love seeing all those beautiful, cute projects. Wondering on your Rit dyed fabric , how are your hands after working with it . Does it rub off hands the color?. I want to dye some fabric so asking. Take care. Yay Football is back 🏈❤
@StitchinMommy2 ай бұрын
During the dying process, I made sure to rinse the fabric over and over with hot water to make sure all the loose dye had come completely out. When I work on it now, nothing comes off on my hands.

How do you take out the background in Pattern Keeper?
@StitchinMommy2 ай бұрын
Basically, taking the background out in Pattern Keeper is just marking those stitches as "done". You can long press sections you want to select and a pop up will ask if you want to select the whole page or the whole square, then you can select and mark off sections faster. If I am just cropping a piece, I just mark things off along a straight edge - often on a page break. But if I am removing the background, it can be helpful to mark off the squares along the edge of the main subject so that you can see what's what, then "frog" the main subject areas, leaving just the background symbols marked as done.

What's you're oldest piece?
@StitchinMommy3 ай бұрын
@@cardiffstitcherdanielle I’m not one hundred percent sure what my oldest piece is, but I think it’s either Antique Shoe Collection, To Everything A Season Sampler, or In the Beginning (you can see these in my last WIP parade or in my next one which I hope to get out in the next week or two). Those were all started when I was late high school or early college, so about 25 years old!
