It is a 5 month, online class beginning September 1, 2024, although it is strictly work at your own pace. The kit includes full spools of threads in filament silks and real silver thread, in an authentic 17th century palette, as well as everything you need to make the Elizabethan Valentine, with the exception of a frame to work it in. The options for a frame, as well as lacing your fabric and stitching with a frame will be fully covered in the course.

My father emigrated to the US as a child with his parents and they left their lives and family history behind on the other side of the Atlantic, by design. The difference is striking, to say the least.

Katie I cannot express to you what you and your floss tube has meant to me. I don't even stitch. I knit. But I love, your love of your hobby. I have ordered kits from you but have not started stitching yet. Your floss tubes kept me company and was a wonderful distraction during a very hard painful time with my back. They're a lot harder to find! I've probably spent equivalent hours on Thomas and Lucretia at this point, and those hours turned up several file folders on Thomas, but very little about Lucretia. Most women lived their lives outside the pages of recorded history in those days.

Katie, please don't ever denigrate your sharing on family. I am adopted and my father was adopted so there is nothing there, no roots,no medical history, no roots. I met my biological mother when I was 18 and learned that she too stitched. She too played piano and sang and read voraciously; we even had baby toes alike! Roots are important so keep sharing with us, we all need a tie of some kind, even if it's only the threads of our stitching. Cake house unicorn

Please do make sure you follow through, write it down, and make sure there's a way to identify which story goes with which object so it can't be separated. According to family lore, there was a book that went with Thomas' huswife. It was borrowed and never returned, and now we don't know what that was, what it said, or what information might have been lost (the thought that it might have been a diary keeps me up at night). It's moderately horrifying to think about how easy it is to lose vital information...

I love the bride cake linen! I have not tried stitching on anything higher than 40 count yet but would love to stitch a house or a unicorn on it!

You can do it! Plenty of good light - the linen threads are quite fine so I think the holes are pretty visible. It's always worth trying something new, since the worst thing that can happen is you find it's not for you, and you return to what you do like.

Love all your projects, and sharing all your emotions and experiences from summer school. The brides cake is mouthwatering gorgeous! And look no calories! Unicorn and house are also beautiful! Looking forward to budgeting one of your classes and projects for next year!! The attic is like a cross stitch Mecca! Not sure if it will ever be in my budget (mainly because of all the haul I would buy!!!!). I know I have no restraint in those situations!!!

Katie, just so enjoy today's floss tube. I am charting out a poem to add to a sampler using a Embroiderer's Alphabet book from around 1920's. So smiled when you showed your alphabet folder. If you were to visit our house, there would be cake and tea served while we talked samplers and stitching. Love hear about Summer School, would adore to attend but the extra costs of travel from UK is putting this outside my budget. But I get to enjoy , your joy.

Happy Flossiversary! Happy 8k subscribers! Beautiful work on the Britomart sampler. I love the eyelets - lol! I had a pet unicorn once who would only eat cake. I never let him in the house, though, as all that cake did horrible things to his digestion. I set him free in the Dismal Swamp finally as he was growing a little too thick from the cake. He actually like peat moss now and is very happy there still. Every birthday though I do still make him a cake and now he enjoys it sensibly. Still can't wait for the Britomart sampler even if it will take my whole year's budget! Tell your mom, we can't wait to see her again! (oh, and you too, of course). 😆🦄🎂🏡❤

Wonderful floss tube!! Looks like you had an absolute wonderful time at summer school. I would have loved to attend. It is on my bucket list to attend one year. I have always wanted to visit Arizona so I'm going to make this a priority on my list. Love your Britimark Sampler. It will definitely be on my list to purchase when you release it. I can't recommend the Attic highly enough - their events are truly special because of all the joy of stitchers gathering together, enjoying needlework, but the shop itself is also worth visiting if you can't get to one of the events. I've never seen so much stitching in one place - every time I go I see things I've missed before, there's so much to look at!
