Katie I cannot express to you what you and your floss tube has meant to me. I don't even stitch. I knit. But I love, your love of your hobby. I have ordered kits from you but have not started stitching yet. Your floss tubes kept me company and was a wonderful distraction during a very hard painful time with my back. The only position that was tolerable was sitting. So I would sit and replay your floss tubes in the middle of the night while I waited for the pain to subside. YOU got me through it. So, do not underestimate your influence in the world as you sit and stitch in your home. I appreciate you sharing with me and the world. You are a magical unicorn. Thank you.😊

Thank you so much - I had some very careful ancestors who valued family history, so there's a lot there, but only on one side. My father emigrated to the US as a child with his parents and they left their lives and family history behind on the other side of the Atlantic, by design. The difference is striking, to say the least.

Please do make sure you follow through, write it down, and make sure there's a way to identify which story goes with which object so it can't be separated. According to family lore, there was a book that went with Thomas' huswife. It was borrowed and never returned, and now we don't know what that was, what it said, or what information might have been lost (the thought that it might have been a diary keeps me up at night). It's moderately horrifying to think about how easy it is to lose vital information...

Katie, just so enjoy today's floss tube. I am charting out a poem to add to a sampler using a Embroiderer's Alphabet book from around 1920's. So smiled when you showed your alphabet folder. If you were to visit our house, there would be cake and tea served while we talked samplers and stitching. Love hear about Summer School, would adore to attend but the extra costs of travel from UK is putting this outside my budget. But I get to enjoy , your joy.

Loved you talking about your family, made me think- I know a lot about the men from my fraternal side back to the civil war- but not as much about the women. Who doesn't love a piece of cake after several hours of stitching? I do!

They're a lot harder to find! I've probably spent equivalent hours on Thomas and Lucretia at this point, and those hours turned up several file folders on Thomas, but very little about Lucretia. Most women lived their lives outside the pages of recorded history in those days.

Hi Katie, Once again an amazing video! I am working my way through the kits I have from you which keep me somewhat sane whilst being somewhat displaced in South Wales from the Bay area......I am currently finishing Cardinal Kin (the bead trim) and on the last legs of Rabbit and the Rose (finally!!) after having completed 4 (!) of the bells of Christmas (a wonderful stitch and great ornament exchange choice!!). I have some Marchpane and am keen to try Bridal Cake so hope to get lucky!!! Best wishes and thanks for posting such uplifting stuff.

I love the bride cake linen! I have not tried stitching on anything higher than 40 count yet but would love to stitch a house or a unicorn on it!

You can do it! Plenty of good light - the linen threads are quite fine so I think the holes are pretty visible. It's always worth trying something new, since the worst thing that can happen is you find it's not for you, and you return to what you do like.

Wonderful floss tube!! Looks like you had an absolute wonderful time at summer school. I would have loved to attend. It is on my bucket list to attend one year. I have always wanted to visit Arizona so I'm going to make this a priority on my list. Love your Britimark Sampler. It will definitely be on my list to purchase when you release it. I will be one that I will have to frame and hand on a wall in my House. I love see all the pictures everyone has been posting from summer school. I especially love see the party that was thrown for Jean for her birthday. Whoever baked her Cake did a wonderful job. It was very pretty and looked tasty. I hope it was enjoyed. I really like the chart you showed that has a Unicorn on it. I have been seeing people post there's and I have thought about getting it for myself self. I may end up doing that. I can't recommend the Attic highly enough - their events are truly special because of all the joy of stitchers gathering together, enjoying needlework, but the shop itself is also worth visiting if you can't get to one of the events. I've never seen so much stitching in one place - every time I go I see things I've missed before, there's so much to look at!
