I wasn't sure if you knew that Esther was Lori Brechlin's sheep (Notforgotten farm.). That wonderful chart is a tribute to her. Eshter died a few years ago, she was often featured in Lori's blog. I have the chart too and hope to stitch it some day.

Hi Karen, I am intrigued with the over one on 25 count. I am an Aida stitcher and currently stitching on 20 ct. I think I could move on to 25 ct lugana if my eyes will let me. (Ha!) Hi Sherry! So glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your nice comment. 🙂 You should give 25 ct Lugana a try. I’m really enjoying working on it. (I do have to wait higher power “readers” when I stitch, so it is fairly easy to see the over one on it If you decide to try it, start with a lighter color that isn’t over-dyed. It is easier to see. Working over 1, I used 1 strand of floss. If I worked over 2, I would need to use two strands. I’m looking forward to our next TRSG meeting! See you there and Merry Christmas! 🎄🎄🎄

Hi Karen love that you share so much knowledge. I love those fruit baskets too. I learned a little trick about 15 years ago, take a picture of what you are working on and most times you can spot a mistake. I use this for my quilting also.😊

I’m so glad you tried 1/1 on 25 count Lugana!! I convinced Katherine- Stitching in Costume and have been trying to convince Sarah - Sarah’s Stitchy Spot to do this! I find 1/1 on 25 count to be quite easy and so my larger pieces are all stitched this way, and now I’m thinking of moving up to 32 count 😊

Enjoy your programs, always learn something new. You mentioned that you use Vicky Clayton silks. I’m using them for the first time and was wondering if you would talk about how you end your threads. I’m noticing my ending threads are coming lose and showing up on the stitched side of the linen. Thanks again for your program.

Hi Sharon, so glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for your nice note. I usually end my threads by weaving them under three or four stitches, in several different directions. This tends that to help hold the ends which can be slick. If the ends are running under two few stitches, or in just one direction. sometimes they can come loose. Hope this helps and thanks so much for your note!

I always enjoy your videos and the new things you are getting up to. Can you talk more about Lugana? I’ve heard of it, I know it’s an evenweave, but that’s about it. I know I can Google it but would love to know why you’re interested in it. As well, you were looking through a lot of charts to decide what designs you might want to do over one on the Lugana. What details or criteria were you assessing in the chart to determine which ones were good candidates? I have “At Home” by Brenda Gervais kitted up with a Color and Cotton floss conversion. I’ll be starting it soon. It’s such a lovely pattern and reminds me of southern Wisconsin near where I grew up. Happy Holidays to you, Karen!

Oh, Karen! You now have me looking at lugana in lieu of linen! As if I need to add stash! Thank you for the tip on Singer tapestry needles at HL. And all the fabulous charts you shared - I’ve been in a funk and not joyful in my stitches …I needed your push to start something that sparks joy for me right now. Look forward to the cinnamon roll recipe - I make cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning too, along with Swedish rolled pancakes, an egg casserole, ham, and a salad of spring greens, cranberries, pears, pecan and a homemade dressing. Thanks for the information about the Pony Needles. I will add it to the list I’m putting together. I have two different sets of sewing cases. One set is a sewing box set from Hand and Lock. (I think I show them in detail in a FlossTube from about a year ago. The second set is a jewelry box set from Leatherology. I have the small and the medium one. Really enjoyed your video. I was wondering with the 25 count Lugana, how do you do the special stitches? I am an Aida stitcher and if I do a pattern with special stitches I usually just do the regular stitch instead or skip that area on the chart. What would be the difference between the 25 count one over one and a 16 count one over one for special stitches? Thank you for your insight.

Hi Bonita, so glad you enjoyed the video and thanks so much for your comment. When using the 25 count Lugana, I am stitching over one, so I’m choosing charts without specialty stitches. I haven’t used 16 count over one and I haven’t done specialty stitches when working over one so I’m afraid I don’t have much insight on that. If you stitch on Ada and would like to move towards stitching on linen, I would recommend using 25 count Lugana and stitching over two. That would allow you to do specialty stitches ( if you wish) and the even weave of the Lugana makes it easier, in my opinion, to see and to count. Hope that is helpful. Lots of nice things to see in this video!! I find it is better not to judge the color of a linen by the picture you get with the chart. Most of the time the picture is not at all, a good representation of the actual linen color. It can be so differentit is shocking. To me this is the hardest thing about ordering linen online unless it is a linen you have had before. I don't have a LNS and the nearest good shop is 3 hours away. Just my thoughts. Take them or leave them. Happy Stitching!!!!

Hi Christy, thanks so much for your comments. I agree, often the color on the cover photo is much different than the actual linen. I also have to order most of my linen online. It can be a challenge. Happy stitching and thanks again for your comments.
