Floss, your review of the Z Fold 4 is the best way to learn to use the device. Thanks again. I would prefer a wider outer display, but after dealing with the buggy software/firmware on my Matrix Element X, will not take a gamble on expensive Chinese hardware again. The Fold 4 came with a free case with a kickstand. Also a pen. For the price of the Xiaomi I got the 512 GB Fold 4, the case and pen, the watch, the Pro2 buds. Trading in an obsolete phone, better for the environment.

They have packages as well with the buds, charger case and screen protector for around 300$ or so. So all in with accessories, with a good trade in you might pay around 1000-1300 depending on storage capacity

Nice looking phone, the wider front display appeals to me. When doing the photo comparisons, remember that the displays and display settings are different. That could also be the reason for the reddish skin, so maybe check the photos on the same monitor to verify. 😊

I really appreciate the direct comparisons to the Galaxy Z Fold 4, I'ma first time fold buyer and there's been a lot of hype around the mix fold 2 and the size of it, but I've yet to hear any reviewers point out the trade-offs that you miss out on like wireless charging, stylus support and the main display lacking a camera. Thank you Floss for re-confirming the Galaxy Z Fold 4 as the king still. I'ma huge Samsung fan and though there are still things they can improve on, I am in love with my Z Fold 4

The side finger print sensor is not only faster but its in a more natural place where you hold the phone. As someone with small hands this will never change. I have developed cramps on my thumb from having to stretch it down to the bottom of the screen to unlock it everytime.

As you mentioned in the Fold 4 video - there is no more presentation when we are unpacking an expensive device. I guess manufacturers got lazy especially if customers don't boycott and are willing to pay the asking price. No charger, no 3.5mm dongle. I have read that some countries such as Brazil(if I am not mistaking) insist that Samsung include a charger in the box. EU/UK has 2 years of warranty, we have 1 year in US.

Zfold 4 went for function and xiaomi went w form. Xiaomi has less crease bigger screen etc etc but not water and dust resistant due to tear drop folding method. Screen needs to move or rather slide a little when folded and unfolded and that is why it was able to achieve less crease. Id still pick zfold4 tho. Form doesnt matter as much when functionally is needed at times.

I read the reason Samsung kept the same hinge, even though it makes that crease, is because the newer hinges that other foldables use aren't waterproof yet.

The iphone 4 wasn't waterproof, it has survived all sorts of abuse. The Razr V3 wasn't waterproof and it has survived being rained on overnight. So just relax with this waterproofing

I don't know Floss, the side mounted fingerprint sensor is definitely a touch faster than the in-screen one. Plus it's so much more convenient. I pick up the phone and I'm in. No need to wiggle my thumb towards the middle of the display!

I'm going with the people. I like the side fingerprint sensor much better than the in screen sensor. It's in a more natural spot to grab the phone and it works waaay better. My S22 ultra was driving me crazy with the in screen sensor - didn't work half the time. No, more like didn't work 70% of the time. Side sensor works every time, my finger is there anyway. Perfect.

One thing to keep in mind when not buying a mainstream android brand here in the US, like Samsung, is the trade in value. Even if they are cheaper phones, you're not going to keep it forever, probably 3 years top. So when taking that into consideration, the net cost of a Samsung phone is a lot less due to the resale value being a lot higher than other Chinese brands or even Sony for that matter.

I think the reason why the Xiaomi camera was a lot more saturated, is because of the "saturated" color modes you put in the setting, I wanted to make more color neutral photos on my Xiaomi, but they were all saturated, and then I remembered I had my screen put on "saturated" mode

I think it protects the phone more and leads to longer life, having the screen not right up next to each other so many people would damage the fold. Also protects against wear and tear not having the screen against each other. just a trade off if you dont have the gap

Flossy is a big dude, but for most people, these wide foldables are going to be a pain to hold; especially after you put the obligatory case on it. No water resistance. No wireless charging. No optimized software. Crummy support. No thanks. Flossy nailed it: the Fold 4 is better.

I've got my Mix Fold 2 coming. I paid $1600 with the shipping from PDAPlaza. Never used them before, but I could use PayPal, so...Just the mere fact that the screen is full size excites me. To me, the cover screen on the Fold 4 (yes I have it, so I know what I'm talking about) completely unusable. After messing around with the vivo x fold, I was able to get quite a few apps to utilize the full inner display. I have an IPTV app that does it perfectly. I also was able to watch 5 different channels on the inner display. A multi channel picture in picture type of thing. Absolutely beautiful.

The Chinese brand has a 5% threshold on profits from hardware sales, and as a result, its phones deliver great value. While this strategy has allowed Xiaomi to undercut the likes of Samsung, Huawei, and others globally, it doesn't work in the carrier-dominated model followed in the U.S.

I had one of these on order but canceled and ended up with the Fold4. The large cover display is nice and I do like the quicker charging, but there's a lot of other stuff you miss out on like water resistance, wireless charging, Samsung's superior foldable software experience (this can be somewhat fixed with bootloader unlocking and root but that introduces other potential issues) and Samsung's presence in the US, preorder bonuses and repairs specifically. The Fold4 is just a better all round package.

3:30 with this whole narrative of no wireless charge, the 2022 foldable market is literally a throwback at the 2018 standard phone situation where makers like oneplus prioritize speed over wireless…at the end of the day wireless is cool but faster charging speed is just more functional in given situation though

I actually use wireless charging a lot throughout the day. I have a wireless charger in my vehicle which I use for trips, navigating, keeping it charged. I also have a wireless charger at my desk at work in which my phone sits on and I use as a kickstand/wireless charger. For me, it's a non negotiable and of I'm spending that type of money on a foldable I need wireless charging, water resistancen so I'm not afraid of raindrops, flex mode, spen support, Dex, and everything else the Chinese foldable don't have 🤷🏾‍♂️

The weight and elegance of the Xiaomi, especially because it is a foldable, makes it a winner for me. But when I saw no full screen at 42:00 that is a literal deal breaker.

Fold is winning in probably all aspects except charging battery and outer screen.. 2 days with the fold 4 and so far I'm impressed. Outer screen is small but can easily be used in one hand

I've had mine since the 23rd, coming from a zfold 3 , battery life is already a huge improvement, I been putting it through the ringer and it's impressed me. Camera is crisp 👌. The crease never bothered me. And the 1tb is a huge plus , samsung is on the right track. I'm sure next gen will be a huge improvement

@@Em12k yes I agree. I'm really happy with it. Battery life is surprisingly good. if the outer screen was a tad bit bigger it would of been the ultimate fold. But it's still not that bad.

@@aoh4905 yes 💯 but if it was slightly wider. Just a tiny bit it would of helped dramatically bcuz most of the times you make typing errors because the keyboard is very narrow. Everytime I go back to my note 20 ultra I feel that narrowness but as I open the inner screen I forget all about other devices

@@nbh1111 see that’s the logic we go by. Increasing the screen would give them way more internal space for a bigger battery and s pen slot. I honestly think they’re not doing it because of the water proof hinge they have. They isn’t one in time for the fold 4 that they can make the changes we want. They’re getting one developed now. They rather we have water proof than the other things right now. That’s also the reason the crease is still there. The none water proof hinge gets rid of the crease. Samsung won’t use it though.
