The fact that they said “Nico still got it” makes him sound like old news and he already past his prime. Yes his little brothers surpass him doesn’t mean his legacy is gone.

Nico's form looks shot. His smooth stride is gone and he bounces now. It's as if he was too self-aware about his "form issues" and tried to overcorrect.

I didn’t get it. If you’re going to finish in the middle of the pack or further back you don’t need an assigned pacer. You already have the entire pack plus the leaders to choose from who to fall in behind and get in sync with.

Firstly, it's easy to be a critic. However, if it's constructive, criticism can be helpful, IF it's valid. So, the tactics used by Will Smith in this race were completely stupid. I started watching him in the first few laps because I was thinking "Why is this moron running almost 2-3 lanes wide?" So I kept watching and he ran almost the entire race practically in the second lane, even on the bends. That's an extra 8 meters per lap. Now he wasn't quite in the second lane all the way, so on average he ran approx 6 meters per lap extra, for about 10 laps. Do you see where I'm going with this? That's around an extra 60 meters during the running of this race. Go back and watch him if you think I'm exagerating. Meaning, his tactical running was hopeless. Now pulling out to pass runners etc means we have to run wide... BRIEFLY. But to run wide all the way is just stupid.

58 seconds is NOT a blistering kick AND the title suggests Nico outkicked Lex. Lex wasn’t near him for the kick. No need for click-bait losers
@brentburnett6658 Жыл бұрын
It was a kick but not blistering. Even a 54 is not sufficient when looking at a 52 from the likes of grant Kincaid and that gang. The way to win is to push the pace and take the kick out of it early. Even then you might still find a couple of runners willing to hang tight and kick
@Thomas-fk3cw Жыл бұрын
Nico doesn't have a kick. Never has, never will. He's an incredible runner, but he has no kick. You're totally correct. And p.s. the title did click bait me, because I was like holy S, has he developed a kick somehow? Nope.
@brentburnett6658 Жыл бұрын
@@Thomas-fk3cw Nico did make a move and out kicked the field for the win. Blistering? No It wasn’t Nico fastest kick at a 58 but it was a nice move for the win. The overall time wasn’t event close to a pb. He run 13:11 5k Nico will need to develop a faster close and he can do that much like grant fisher or Kincaid had to do. Some of these pros are closing sub 54 and closer to 52 that win these big races. That is the type of kick Nico will need because fitness alone isn’t going to win it all. Too many can run the times but can they out kick when it counts…. Nico has the talent and drive to get there but will he do it before his twin brothers?
@Thomas-fk3cw Жыл бұрын
@Brent Burnett Yeah, Nico has always had extraordinary fitness and that has been the differentiator. But like you said, at some point you can't just run away from your competition because they are just as fit. But yes, he has run faster and probably still has upside. I just don't ever see him developing wheels and having some blistering closing kick. Anyway, definitely a huge talent.
@brentburnett6658 Жыл бұрын
@@Thomas-fk3cw in theory, you can attempt to out run the competition from the gun. The problem with this strategy is when the pack hunts you down. The flip side is the pack sometimes doesn’t hunt down the breakaway runners. Fitness often becomes key to success because most events can have back to back to back qualifiers. Top runners with speed at the end can get trapped in the pack or spiked. What’s nice about Nico is we know he is fit and can push the best. He really out the pressure on Mantz. Mantz is a talent hit simply skipped final year for marathons. Might see him tune up with a 3000 meter race but we could debate Mantz and Nico as lacking that closing speed needed in track. Imagine when we talk about real speed it’s on the international pro level. As good as Jakob is … he has been out kicked. No Doubt that having a kick matters but there are ways to overcome that problem. Just run faster from beginning to start. If one must suffer why not suffer at the from vs the back of the pack.
