That last bit with just Conner running and no sound was incredible. Dude is a machine he really takes it to another level.

Amazing workout by Mantz. He just proved he's gonna win the Trials, and I expect he'll do it in a huge PR fashion. Should be an exciting race.

Modern Day Pre-Fontaine. Gutsy. So determined. This race simulation sort of reminds me of Mantz’s 2 NCAA XC Wins. I wish there were 5 or more slots for USA Athletes at the Marathon Trials but unfortunately we may only get two. So many well deserved runners competing. I can’t wait for the action to start.

So inspiring! Thanks so much for sharing! Easy for us mortals to assume that you guys are superhuman, so its refreshing to hear that it takes a lot of preparation, trial and error, and even going into a race and packing it in at mile 15, but gaining experience - it’s the process, for everyone! No shortcuts for sure! Such an awesome video and so happy for you guys! You’ll make us proud in Paris! 👍

Fueling is the most annoying part for sure but definitely an essential component of proper training (and racing).
@silvertreasure55649 ай бұрын
Great video thank you. But can someone explain to me please. What is the point of having run the Olympic qualifying time (2:08:10) if you still have to be Top 3 at the trials? What if the top 3 at the trials all do not have the OT qualifying time? If it is a tactical slow race why would it make sense to send the winners if you have way faster runners like Conner and Clayton who would need to stay home?
@warrencox98259 ай бұрын
You still need to have the Olympic qualifying time. So say if the winner ran 2:10 and that was his best all year, he wouldn’t be able to go because he doesn’t have the qualifying mark. If it’s a slow race even if Mantz finished 5th he would still go unless 3 people ahead of him have the qualifying time.
@jimh80809 ай бұрын
@@warrencox9825Actually that’s wrong. In the Marathon the US is allowed to send the top 3 (up to 3 depending on how many athletes we have that qualify with either an A standard or top 65 world ranking) from the trials as long as they have run the Olympics B qualifying standard of 2:11:30. It’s quite confusing but right now Mantz and Young are the only 2 with the A standard and there are no other athletes currently in the top 65 in the world rankings so the US can only send 2 as of now but it can be the top two at the trial who have a qualifying time of at least 2:11:30. It’s possible that we could have another slot open up by someone like Scott Fauble moving up the rankings after the trials or in the unlikely event that someone new runs a sub 2:08:10 at the trials. So even though these two are the only two with the A standard if they aren’t top two at the trials they could be sitting home during the Olympics while a slower runner is running thanks to a spot that the US only has because of these two guys. It’s all about being ready to go on the day of the trials. Good Luck to Mantz and Young, I’d love for them to be rewarded for their efforts in Chicago.
