a look at making a flow drill to drill very very hard metal let’s drill with the homemade Flow-Drill
#flowdrill #frictiondrill I mean how hard is it to make a flow drill at home in the workshop let’s find out if you can indeed make a good flow drill for drilling I think you can and let me know if you have any questions about the homemade flow drill

Maybe less pointy so you have a greater area to cause friction and therefore heat. A point contact like yours is almost like a bearing with little heating effect to start with..

I've heard tungsten carbide dust is dangerous for lungs

AvE demonstrated this a couple years ago. I had to quit watching him because of his language. Very nice Demonstration. I hope you wear a dust mask when you grind carbide. "Extensive studies on genotoxicity and mutagenicity have been conducted after a series of epidemiologic studies showed that hard-metal workers exposed to airborne WC and Co dust in occupational settings have increased mortality from lung cancer" (Moulin et al. 1998).

"focus your fcuk" on the topic in AvE video and not the language. "I like lesbians they eat at the same table I do" Best regards AvE

We used to drill out hardened bolts and dowels using Stellite rods. Grind a shallow 3 sided pyramid on the tip and away you go. Needs a rigid setup mind.

Thank you 👍 sounds a tough job to do getting a hardened bolt out !

I've seen flow drilling before, but I wasn't sure if it worked on hardened steel. Now I know!

@@chris-the-bodge-sculptor Without a doubt .. I aplaude you trying to ram a pointy bit of steel through a blunt piece of steel .. in my mind there would've had to be some kind of a cutting edge somewhere .. hence my bafflement ;) keep the vids coming, really enjoy your channel :) plus, I have the same lathe .. it's really what brought me here ;)

to make it work better grind the pointy end a bit oval shaped, so it has kind of two half flat sides so it can push the material better

You really need to make a visit sometime Chris. Especially if your gonna grind carbide. (I must say it did look like a tig tip on steroids when ground)

Man, look for a Russian drill bit. They're marked "no need to sharpening". They goes through glass, metal, wood...one drill bit for all.

Whats the point of that? Good rigid machine with helical milling operation and hard milling cutters makes a hole in hardened steel as well, only a bit nicer.
