Choose affordable marketing strategy. Do not hesitate to recommend others who can fit within budget of your customer. Do window shopping to stay abreast with trends. My love for flowers started when I was 14 years old. We lived in the country so I had woods, meadows, and gardens. I didn't have money, so I often took a bucket of water and my clippers into meadows and woods. It is amazing how many beautiful things there are to see and how what was blooming changed. One time I was going into a meadow and on a hill under large electric wires were hundreds of wild lady slippers. That was the only place that I ever saw lady slippers and wonder if the electric lines had something to do with it??? I won 2 medals at local flower shows (first place and honorable mention) with a bucket of weeds ;-) Ken

That's an interesting correlation about the wild lady slippers, Kenneth! Spending time in nature is such a refreshing way to go and it really helps you understand what flowers do and why. The inspiration is right there and it is ever-changing with the seasons. Hello. I am new here. I enjoyed your video and your advise is really true and good. Many years ago I planned to start a flower shop because we do not have one nearby. We need to go to the capital where the flower shops are. Besides, I love flowers. They are so beautiful, inspiring and arranging them is really enjoyable and of course, doing business while loving what you do is heaven. I attended seminars for knowledge and took a tour to places where I can get my blooms and vases and even found contacts abroad who can provide flowers for me. However, I did not proceed because I cannot do it alone. Since I am just starting I cannot quit my job just like that but i cannot find anyone who could work for me. I want someone who is both knowledgeable and trustworthy. After so many years, your video just made me remember this lost opportunity. I feel both sad and good. Maybe I can do that again..who knows? More power! this video is both informative and inspiring.

Just got inspired again and completed a design for myself with three different foliages, then and only then did I step back and decide on the flowers..... The vessel seems to make much more of a contribution to the overall success of a design than I realized. I love this arrangement Leanne created in the ceramic orange cube and I just realized it was the same container she used two weeks ago and I thought that was the greatest arrangement ever also.

It can help create the color palette or be something you want to showcase in itself. I have a curly willow tree that I grew from curly willows that I kept in my living room in a beautiful vase alone . I planted them in my ornamental garden. Month later and love and behold a tree . Still there for ten years . I will make this on the fall .

Greetings from South Africa Durban. Hi awesome I found your videos and yes I'm a follow u. At the age of 56 and looking for a way to create a job for myself .every body needs a job. Who can buy anything without money. Shopping is our way of life. Anyway everyone needs a job. At my age starting from the bottom to learn anything I can about selling flowers and how to present them to people. I love flowers. I always find a spot somewhere that have no flowers and go plant seeds or a plant there. Sometimes people see flowers growing around them that was never there mm lol.. then people ask what happened, instead of just enjoying the view because I planted those flowers for the bees. Now I want to sell flowers. Is something I always wanted to do. I learn from all the people I see here on KZbin and looking around me what people sell. I saw some awesome designs and was wondering if I can also do it..

The white powder Leanne is using is Alum, which is a pickling spice. We find that hydrangeas will drink more water if they have been given a fresh cut and are dipped in Alum. Hydrangeas are thirsty flowers so it is important to give them time to hydrate in clean water with flower food added to it. Since you are a new florist, we want to share some resources with you. Im a simple florist from the Philippines. I sell arranged flowers during holidays and I also decorate floats for religious festivals and procession. I actually started it there! our family owns some religious statues of saints and we parade them on street during holy week. I love arranging flowers because it relaxes my mind. Thank you very much , I enjoy learning and my philosophy is learning NEVER stops , I also immensely agree about the whole competition think just like artist , you could ask a floral artist to make something then ask 10 others to make it my guess it each one will have its own unique design or artists stamp as you would have it ! I have had the pleasure of assisting brides and getting. To see the satisfaction on thier faces when the reveal happens, well of course you cannot make all happy there is always that small few lol its like being a fairy floral mother lol it's a unique thing to be able to ask some questions and create a oasis for that event in hopes you get it how your clients like it but if and when you do its a amazing feeling because you did something to lighten and brighten anothers day. flowers are magic in my eyes.! As for events or weedings or in any capacity designing arrangements and getting to be a part of designing a special day for someone. Requirea a definate Team approach ... What can you suggest as a floral arrangement for someone who's home is heated to 31 degrees all the time?

Hello Peggy - what a great question! Forgive us for asking for clarification, but are we talking Centigrade or Fahrenheit? If it is Centigrades (a very warm house), then tropical flowers like orchids, ginger, heliconia, birds of paradise would be good choices because they love warmer temperatures. If we are talking Fahrenheit (a very cool house), then bulb flowers like tulips or daffodils would be better choices. Hi, this is Kate, I really want to go to your institute, but am unable to afford it all. So my husband and I came to a compromise to do the 500 hour of experience in the field. We are just unsure exactly what that means, and how we prove that we have done the 500 hours. Do we have to be paid or can it be an internship, also how do we calculate acurately 500 hours.
