I love the “employees” goal .. because my weird goal for doing this is to have starter jobs for my girls and their 4H buddies and cousins

@@lisacook270 yes! Flower power! 😆 I hear joining the ascfg (association of specialty cut flower growers) is a great way to connect with other flower farmers. Lisa speaks at a lot of their conventions. 🌻

I think with beautiful huge plants like that which multiply, selling both the bulbs and the flowers would be awesome. I think lots of us want to source our plants from each other not from wholesalers far away.

I have been wondering if you were able to keep a landscape at least early in your business. There is no way I can do both now, it's just not possible for me. Still haven't planted anything. Having trouble establishing how I'm going to build my beds, so, if I miss the spring season, I miss it. I am working on it, went from, I need that Rainflo bed maker, to I need a pull behind a tractor tiller, then find a neighbor to pull it. I haven't bought one, and I haven't secured a neighbor, and I'm thinking, that plan is a big mistake, relying on someone else to be available everytime I need them. Now I'm thinking, find a great tiller, powerful, with a potato hiller/mounder attachment, do fewer beds then I wanted. Buy no plugs, start w/ the seeds I have. There is still plenty of equipment I need for starting seeds, lights, shelves, heat mats, the blocking mix, row cover, If I use silage tarps strategically, and sell/give samples to the florests, I can try to build my business with great flowers and filler, and plan way ahead for more beds next spring. That is where I am, for the moment, unless the farm fairy decides to drop off a tractor w/a tiller, maybe throw in a 4wd vehicle I can drive and pull a small trailer around my property, and a cooler, and a delivery truck, and a shed to store my supplies in, and and and. I am not deterred, I still want to be a cut flower farmer. Helps to write it out. Thank you Lisa Ziegler, your content is one of a kind. Keep talking to us about the reality of flower farming, I want to hear it, the cold hard truth, farming glasses on, gardening glasses off.
