As a retired Social Worker who had I highly stressful job, I always thought how wonderful it would be to have a career working with beautiful flowers and make people happy to have my creations. This was quite a wake up call. Grandma’s rule “Trouble cheats no one” applies to your profession.

Ellen, the info on cooler and marking what came in first is also great for growers. Such as dry storing peony or tulips.

First in, First out is critical for us. Do you use any system like this?

So if a florist says no, politely ask them about their shrink. 😅 I’m not a flower grower, but I plan on dabbling and playing with post harvest handling, vase life, etc this year. My last job was nursery plant sales. 😅 I binge watch/listen to tons of flower content online, especially anything Jennie Love puts out. Appreciate it. 💚

Thanks for your note. Jennie is great! Florists choose not to buy some flowers over others for many reasons. The best way to get a florist to say yes is to be prepared! I offer a short course called "Preparing to Sell to Florists" that helps farmers get prepared to approach a florist with knowledge, confidence and a high quality product. Check it out if you're interested in learning more about this topic. thegardenersworkshop.com/product/preparing-to-sell-to-florists/

I would add that growers who aren't selling the flowers in the field that they're growing also have shrinkage.
