My back yard neighbor has a very tall hedge of lilacs. Once in a while they grew over my fence and I could sneak a few blooms for a bouquet. She's moving away and I can only hope the new owners will keep them or maybe prune them to a better height so we all can get some bouquets. 😊 I'm still planting some in my yard. My 70+ year housing development is named "Lilac Way" after all.
@Weeks253 жыл бұрын
I have a few really large lilac bushes along my backyard fences (In a subdivision) an a couple other flowering bushes/trees. MAN OH MAN the lilacs smell soooooo good! Either the other flowering bushes an trees don’t have much of a scent or the Lilacs just overpower them. Fine with me though 😂 I’m trying to propagate a couple Lilac cuttings right now. Fingers crossed I can start a couple new bushes from the cuttings. Trying to grow some more hydrangeas from cuttings too. New to the whole cuttings thing but have had success so far with Lavender, Rosemary & Thyme.

I would definitely watch a Sunflower Steve channel. He did great. I love chrysanthemums and King's Mums are awesome but some of the cultivars you ordered may not bloom before frost. Been growing them for 3 years but I have had to bring them into my heated greenhouse before the frost hits my area to wait for the blooms. The blooms have a vase life of over 2 weeks. Sometimes I can get them to last 3 weeks. Love them.

So, after watering in some violas I planted in my rusty urn yesterday, I looked over the weed situation around it. Mmm, I'm going to have to get after those. I gathered the tools, a large piece of cardboard to sit on and started working on weeding. My neighbors went on a bike ride, we chatted a bit to catch up after our winter hybernation. They returned from their trip and I hadn't moved an inch. That's how thick the weeds (and quack grass 😠) are. I filled a 5-gallon can! Loaded up the car with stems from my mock orange I cut to the ground in March and hauled everything to our municipal yard waste site. Mmm, across the road is a Home Depot store. I just wanted to pick up 3 bags of mulch (I'm trying to break down chores into small projects so I'm not overwhelmed). Gosh! They have plants! Two foxgloves, 3 PW violet rage salvia, 1 drinking gourd hosta and an 8-pk. of alyssum later I have begun 2021 gardening season. I have many lily bulbs to pot up, too. You inspire me, Nicole.
