Appreciate the review. I got 3 free months premium when I registered my Yamaha. Just started looking at it. You nailed it when it comes to music theory on the app! Weak. I am at a point where I really want to focus on sight reading, so I am loving the app. I did send a request to them to filter by level when searching for songs. Any recommendations for books or apps on music theory? I feel like I'm good on the basics, but we never stop learning. Thanks again.

Thanks for watching! If you're good with the basics of theory, MusicTheory.net has some more intermediate stuff. Rick Beato (you can find him on KZbin) also has an advanced theory book called The Beato Book, so check that out too.

I don't need an app with piano lessons. I only need an app that will handle sheet music, and turn the page for me as I play. I would also be nice if I can record my compositions on staff "paper." Which app would accomplish these two functions? Thanks! Great video!

Don't know of any app that will turn pages of sheet music. But flowkey does follow along the sheet music as you play the song, and they have a great library of sheet music to choose from. As for transcribing your composition, I don't know if it does it automatically but check out Sibelius - it's a notation app composers use.

@@deviant-noise sounds like it does the job just the same.

Thanks for the review. I wonder if the app accept a connection via MIDI. What you mention of the app sometimes not recognizing the notes I think is because of that. Other apps have the same problem when relying on the audio itself. Also I think some pianos might get out of tune in some notes. So I prefer MIDI, so there’s no delay, no recognition error, and I could play at night with headphones and not bothering people.
@deviant-noise Жыл бұрын
Yea that's definitely the reason. Flowkey does accept MIDI keyboards as well, but does not require it like Melodics does.

Does Flowkey give you the option to show finger notations on the sheet music the way Simply Piano does in the learning modules?
@deviant-noise9 ай бұрын
No, I don't think they had any finger notation on the sheet music itself.

What if I want to play a complete song in my tempo after I learned it with the app? I am forced to use the wait mode in order to see current position in the sheet. So if I only use the mic in my device I am doomed ;-) because the app doesn't reliably recognize every tone, even more in faster songs or chords. So if I want to play a song fluently I am disrupted by the app. Consequently there is a strong need to see the notes in a classic way (multline partition) without wait mode. To me it's a show stopper. When I am learning the song, the assistive modes are very good. But when I just want to play the song in my tempo, I see no chance how I can do it.

This is a totally legitimate concern, I agree - so thanks for the input. Unfortunately, I think it has to do with the way copyright works with sheet music. They can't allow you to, for example, print out the song's notation because that'd be a copyright violation. But there is a way to turn off the wait mode in "settings" that will just play through the sheet music without waiting to hear your notes. But you can't adjust to a custom tempo. Another way would be to learn the song with Flowkey initially, and if you really like the song you could purchase the sheet music for that song online.

Hello! Do you know whether flowkey has removed lifetime subscription option? I cannot find it anywhere. Thank you
@deviant-noise2 жыл бұрын
Yup, looks like they removed the lifetime subscription option. The most you can do now is 12 months. Maybe they'll bring it back in the future.

I’m so disappointed! I tried messaging them to see if there was a way to still get the lifetime subscription, but they said no😢
