You can hook up a fish aquarium air pump to the vac line and then do the soap test. Spray the lines with soapy water and look for bubbles. The reason for the fish pump is that it only makes a small amount of pressure. Its hard to turn a air compressor down to a half a pound. If you over pressure you vac system you could do more harm than good.

Hi Martin, I purchased a refurbished computer for my 04 4.0 WJ from a company in Florida along with having it reprogramed to not use the original SKIM. This is my 3rd computer so far. The SKIM is removed from the vehicle. The engine still shuts off after running for 10-15 mins. Sometimes it starts right back up and sometimes it has to cool down. This has been going on for a long time. Not sure where to go from here.

When I first heard the symptom I would think it would be the crankshaft position sensor. Have you tried that? The previous owner also replace the computer in this Jeep with the company from Florida that sounds like their media problem with that particular company.

Hi Martin, Thank you for responding, I have replaced the crank sensor, fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel filter, computer, removed the SKIM. The car actually runs great when it runs. I thought maybe the crank sensor might be bad again. I haven't replaced the cam sensor.

Hi Martin, Im in the hunt for a 4.7wj to add the the 4.0 stable and wondered if you might do a short intro to the 4.7 and what to watch for. Also, what do we do about the Vari-Lok axles these days? Avoid?

The way you’re explaing this is for people who have no business under the hood of a car. You could save yourself and all of us so much time if you just assume the majority of people who’s going to watch your video already possess enough skill to join together two pieces of pvc. Other than that good video. Thanks.

Great video! This guy is bright, friendly and easy to listen to. I agree with he pervious comment before me: "... an absolutely flawless video, it's amazing!". Video was clear, concise and direct without the typical busy talk and filler andeither verbal or video tangents. Plus the video itself was actually high quality with clear, visible, steady shots of each part he referenced. A+++++ as far as I am concerned! GREAT JOB!

Martin, thx for the helpful video, I just did everything right and when I rotate the engine the colored link no more in the right position however at TDC the timing on the cam gear v6 at 12 o’clock both side the idler gear at 12 the crank sprocket at 6 the balancer gear dot perfectly lined to with the ideler sprocket gear after 4 rotation all lines up but still the colored link not in the 1st time step position , note : all gears lined up at top dead center TDC , am I good to go or those colored links should be at same position ? They were in the right spot before rotate the engine , thx in advance

Thank you I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful. Yes I know on the 4.7 once you rotate the engine after installing the timing chain set and sprockets it takes 13 complete rotations before ALL the marks line back up again.

MY 2000 WJ GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO 4.0L 4X4 NEEDS A MODIFIED NEW TRACK BAR .. I'D BE VERY INTERESTED IN HEAVY-DUTY SUSPENSION IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING AND WANT TO GIVE IT A TRY. THAT TRACK BAR THAT YOU MADE MAN IF THOSE ANTOINE UNSCREW AND YOU JUST PUT A NEW ONE IN THAT WOULD BE WAY AWESOME... THAT WOULD REVOLUTIONIZE DOING YOUR OWN BUSHINGS.. GREAT JOB ON THE VIDEO THANK YOU FOR SHARING THANKS FOR ALL THE DETAILS THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION GOD BLESS

Hi Martin I replaced with the Denso injectors on my WJ 4.7 …. I’m getting an error code 0172/0175 … difficult to start up as well … I believe this is to say fuel mixture is too rich I did replace the plugs and new ignition coils too… could use some help to sort the issue 😊
@martinbuilt
@martinbuilt 9 күн бұрын
Your Denso injectors are they original ones or they some eBay Chinese knockoff? I've seen them on eBay a lot claiming that they're denso injectors but they're just look alikes and do not operate like the originals.

This is exactly what I need to do! If I’d like to use new stuff, can I buy those wire leads with the blades on them online? What are they called exactly so I can find them? Thanks a lot!
@martinbuilt
@martinbuilt 9 күн бұрын
Yeah I doubt you're able to purchase the leads with the terminals on them already not exactly what you would call them maybe fuse terminals? I think you'd be happy with just going to your local salvage yard and getting a section of wire with the terminal on it already. I'm glad you liked it and found it helpful and thank you for watching.

Is it okay to rotate the camshaft, (at the harmonic balancer of course) without rocker arms installed?
@martinbuilt
@martinbuilt 15 күн бұрын
Yes only rotate the camshaft at the harmonic balancer (crankshaft) can be done with or without the rocker arms in place just don't do it at the camshaft cuz this will cause a lot of stress on the timing chain and guides.
