Hello Martin, I have a question. Can rocker arms be reused when you change lifters?
@martinbuilt2 күн бұрын
Yes absolutely I would just inspect them and make sure the roller is still functioning properly. The rocker arms on a 4.7 are pretty reliable.

Very good info on the rocker arm.. will this increase the oil pressure or call quietness of the truck..
@martinbuilt6 күн бұрын
It could help if you have weak oil pressure and can help with noisy lash adjusters.

at low speed the air cooling is poor and with load it overheats and I guess it triggers the protection circuit or simply it can’t make enough power. But I have a cs130 105Amp alternator that can do 100A at 800 engine rpm with the same pulley possibly similar rotor rpm.

The one thing you must keep in mind is All of your grounds must be in good shape from battery to chassis and battery to engine as well as all grounds from chassis to body and the wire ends where the crimp is made not have too much rust. Power flows from Negative to positive not positive to negative and your battery the age from when it was manufactured I suggest not be more than 6 to 8 years of age as this too will hamper the output. these tips will help you improve your readings as it should be 14.6 for a good charging rate.

Great video, Martin. I watched your video after driving my wife's 2001 Durango. Ordered three of them because it has the dual side controls. Super cold this week. Hoping it's the motor and not the shaft lever. The heat has not been working at the bottom for a while and she never said anything. I only had heat from the left vent, none in the center dash vents or the floor. I might have to super glue the lever(s)if it's 9more than one) broken?

@martinbuilt10 күн бұрын
@@318boro assuming you have the 4.7 and in 01 they had the 16 tooth tone ring. You'll be able to use any Jeep Grand Cherokee 99 through 04 and I believe any Dakota ram or Durango up to 02 as long as the ECM had a three plug connectors.

Just want to thank Martin, I went to my local u-pull-it salvage yard, got a TCU out of a 2002 Grand Cherokee for $25, swapped it out on my 2002 Dodge Ram 1500. It worked beautifully. Dropped the RPM to 1800 at 70mph, it was at about 2050 RPM at 70 mph

So what is the Positive on your battery fed to? You show the one red cable (harness you built) it is connected to the frame and then you show (what I assume is the same Pos wire from the frame?) that wire connecting to the alternator. Frame to Alternator? Not Pos battery post to Alternator? Are you in Europe or is your car a diesel? I'm looking to do this for my Civic but now I'm not so sure lol
@martinbuilt12 күн бұрын
I am in Nevada USA. The red cable (+) to a pass through type connector. It does not ground directly to the frame that would cause a direct short. The positive cable does run inside the frame and I did add an additional split loom sleeve to help protect it. Then yes on the other side of the frame that pass through connector supplies power the starter and alternator and main distribution block. The link below are the type of connectors I was talking about that passed through my unibody frame. amzn.to/42hYy2E

Did you find that the roller rockers are worth it considering the heavy cost in comparison to stock lifters? $550 s alot of $. I'm considering getting some myself while im replacing my 0331 head. Thank Martin for this awesome video. I saved it to one of my play list as reference when I may put these puppies in (if I busy) Repped and subscribed! looking forward to more of your videos!
@martinbuilt12 күн бұрын
Yeah I do believe the rockers are worth it they do actually gain you 8 to 13 horsepower. There was a video done on that with Dyno testing that proved this.

I suspect QC under Stellantis is lacking. Motorcycles get mighty hot and dont drop seats. Ive owned countless cars all with aluminum heads going back to my 1961 Peugeot 403 and not a single one has ever dropped a seat. But getting back to proper cooling system purging I use a coolant funnel attached to rad and purge are from bleeder plug. Then do three heat/cool cycles in the driveway to draw in coolant from reservoir. But I always worry there could still be air pockets lurking in the heads. Ive seem some examples of vacuum purging the cooling system.

I just replaced all the valve stem seals on a 180k motor and while I was in there installed new lash adjusters and updated rockers. On start Im getting a lot of lifter clatter. Just ran for a few minutes but thinking they should pump up pretty quick so a little concerned.
