Seems strange they didn't spec it with a 170mm fork like the other eone sixty bikes and non assisted one sixty bikes

I believe a 170mm fork would suit this bike well. One reason it doesn’t come stock with one is that this is Merida’s only SL e-MTB, and they aimed to strike a balance for a wide range of riders/terrain. The 160mm fork is more versatile for general riding, whereas the 170mm fork is more specific for enduro riding. It would have been great to see a stock build option featuring a 170mm fork and a 27.5-inch rear wheel. [Tom]

My first e-bike was a Merida e160. I was waiting for an SL but they took too long and I went elsewhere. This kinda makes me wish I’d waited!

This being the second bike with the SX you have tested, how was the motor rattle on the descents? Same as the Norco fluid with a quite loud rattle? (in my experience louder than the full power CX ever was)

The rattle is still present, although I only noticed it when I specifically listened for it. While doing this review, I also rode the eOne-Eighty, which features the new CX motor, and that bike had no rattling noise at all. [Tom]

This whole segment is getting flooded with SL options, once you've ridden the Bosch SX and CX , most bikes tend to feel the same if it's the same drive unit, and geo numbers, and suspension etc, at that point you're basically just paying for the brand of choice like cars.
