Can't wait to watch Alirez beat woods. He just keeps getting better and better. He's got what it takes and it's going to be a great match that we're more than likely going to see.

Everyone dogging Alirez here should do some homework. Dude can wrestle, competes with and beats top competition consistently, and has a lot of accolades. Call me biased being a Colorado boy, but I think he has what it takes to do it. If he doesn’t win this year, it will be Woods, then Alirez next year. Alirez finds ways to beat people he’s lost to, and I’m calling champ.

Me too. Colorado boy over here as well. Alirez can definitely win it this year. 👍🏽

@@diegopons4622 💯 People all think that because he’s not at a big name program with elite coaches he can’t win. People don’t realize how valuable it is to be with the same coaches your whole career, which he has been since he put the shoes on. Woods, who I think is his biggest competition, for example transferred to Iowa late in his career so he’s learning a new system with new coaches. They are making him better, but also changing his wrestling in a way that Alirez beats pretty regularly. My money is on Alirez.

@jamessmallwood9452 Yeah, I agree. Woods beat Alirez by one point last season. I think it was at the Southern Scuffle. But Alirez has made the largest leaps in improvement in my mind at 141. He's also from CO, so that will always play against him in people's minds. But the dude is legit, and he has a hell of a coach in Troy Nickerson @ UNC. I think he's my favorite pick at this moment to win it all in March at 141 lbs.

@@diegopons4622 yeah, it was the scuffle. Alirez is Dynamic and wrestles on an elite level in freestyle. Everyone was against Deakin and he did it. You know who else wrestled in CO for awhile? Henry Cejudo. Colorado has some talent, just haven’t had many champs.
@diegopons4622

@jamessmallwood9452 Yeah, for sure. Everyone was overlooking Deakin last year. But I knew he had a great shot at winning it. I knew he could beat Carr again. And in fact, another CO wrestler (Hunter Willits) is the one who eliminated Carr at nationals. I love Cejudo, but he ain't really from our state lol. As great as that'd be, he was raised and made in Arizona. By the time he came to Colorado his junior year he was already a beast. Tyler Graff and Connor Medberry both came from the same high school (Loveland) here too. The Finesilvers, Geo Martinez, Tom Clum, Kevin Levalley (last guy to beat Dake in college). Our state is no joke on the mat.

Seems like nobody mentions when alirez beat Joey mckenna and Evan Henderson and winning the US open before he was in high school. Seems like he had trouble adjusting to folk style in college but this kid is a monster

People still break them down most of the time, but there’s ways to find openings for cradles like Mizzou was looking for while he had his leg in and was perpendicular and cross-body to his opponent while he built up. As for Alirez, he couldn’t keep Mizzou down but he still got it done on the feet.
