You will learn so much by practising different styles of skating. How are you liking the aggressive skating.

Shop Task It's pretty intimidating. Totally different balance and feeling sliding across something. Busted my arse more the past 2 weeks than I have in the past 8 months lol. But I'm 2 weeks in and starting to lock in some of the basic grinds. Makio, Sole grind, front side grind. Working on these atm because they seem to be pretty basic grinds that can set up more advanced ones as I progress. Basically a long winded I'm loving it haha.
@FlowSkate8 жыл бұрын
That is awesome. Aggressive skating will definitely toughen up your ass, shins, wrists...basically your whole body. The feeling of locking a nice frontside or soul grind is a thing of beauty.

Shop Task Dunno if ya care but I'm the lone skater in my town nobody to talk skate with lol. After a month of practicing grinds I finally started to hit royales. So now I have 4 grinds to practice. Royale, Sole grind, Frontside, makio. The royale is definitely the hardest for me. If you don't have your weight absolutely perfect you're going flying lol.
@FlowSkate7 жыл бұрын
Nice! I remember the first time I tried a royale. I jumped onto my practice rail in a frontside position. I moved my feet together and woops, my feet slide right out from underneath me and landed my back on the rail. Haha

I think the counter rotation is the most important thing here. I'm not saying I can do any of this, but I can tell that everything makes intuitive sense to me except for the counter rotate. So that's a great thing for me to keep in mind. Great tip I would not have picked up on otherwise.
@FlowSkate8 жыл бұрын
For me, the counter-rotation is key. When we slide our momentum continues but we switch our bodies so the wheels are no longer rolling in the direction of our momentum. This requires a force to help push the wheels. I find that the counter-rotation is a great way to generate a strong push into the slide. I hope this makes sense.

Your videos are so helpful. With the help of your video on power slides, I now can do power slides. One thing I am puzzled about on this magic slide video is that you point out Greg Mirzoyan's video. But he seems to be saying the opposite of what you do. You said put 80% of your weight on the back leg. GM says put all your weight on the forward leg. He said you could even put your back leg in your pocket. However, looking at his body position, centered over his rear leg, he seems to have his weight distributed as you describe.

Hi Shoptask! I have two questions! Do you think that the powerslide swell 110mm is a good skate for freeskating ? And the second question is, if I buy the 110mm skate is it possible to put on 100mm wheel on that frame ? If so how will it affect the performance? Thanks for your awersome videos !
@FlowSkate8 жыл бұрын
Hi Edvin I have never seen the Swell in person but from videos and picture, I would say that they are good for free skating. It is possible to put 100mm wheels on the 110mm skate. The 100mm wheels would have a slightly lower top speed. However, the 100mm would put you lower to the ground, increasing stability.

backwards entry to magic slide go backwards and turn your head against your natural resting stance while backwards(Right for me) next let your body follow the head (think of an door hinge, left foot is pivot and right leg steps to the right //////acts as an next pivot once placed to ground) next forcing the slide by now your left leg is trailing behind your torso so we pivot from right leg and make an half lemon with left leg this way the left leg being door-end and right leg is the pivot your momentum guides you trough to an perfect magic slide at low to medium speed this works with no conscious adjustments in ankle or hip .

Few questions for you: - What wheel hardness do you recommend for this? - What foot do you prefer having forward? In this video you use your right. Is it easier to have your dominant foot up front? - Is this easier than the power stop or parallel stop? (I just wanna make sure I'm learning them in the right order of difficulty)
@MJ-ze3vw Жыл бұрын
You're probably no longer looking for answers, but someone might find it useful. :) - Harder wheels are easier to start the slide with, but have less friction, so you'll stop slower and have less control over the slide. It's probably easier to learn with harder wheels. - I think having the foot that you're normally using for T-stops in the back will feel more natural. - Powerslide is easier, parallel stop is a bit more difficult I think.
