Feel free to send me your progress to my Instagram: @bladerz.official - instagram.com/bladerz.official/ As a side note, coming back and watching this a year later, I did talk much slower in this video. For those who are coming back to watch the tutorial again, or prefer videos at a faster speed, I suggest playing the video at 1.25x speed. Only issue with that, is the footage in the video will be sped up, so you might need to pause the video more often. If its your first time watching, I suggest watching the video at normal speed. I do use the magic slide for slow speeds, but it tends to be more towards a soul slide because i don't need that back foot as much for slowing down. My left foot slides in front. I just do the soul slide first, with transferring weight on the left, starting with 10% and ending with 30% of weight. Once the left it is 90% at right angle to me, I transfer up to 80% of weight to it to slow me down fast.
@BladerzOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Yeah the soul slide is very effective for medium pace speeds. Personally I can't actually do a soul slide, so I use the powerslide for the medium pace stops. Whatever works for you i guess :)

Natan rollerschool says keep those arms forward Facing down the slope to counteract your weight. Definitely don’t flale them around. I think you give a good tip to keep the arms up high to prevent side to side balance loss. How the hell did you do that trick after your “mistake” magic slide. Quick transition from front to back scissor your feet? I wish I could transition front to back like I see certain KZbinrs doing it is so smooth looking and I have no clue what they’re doing LOL.
@BladerzOfficial2 жыл бұрын
As I said in the other comment I replied to of yours, Natan is a great teacher and makes great videos/tutorials. I always say this to everyone, when it really comes down to it, you really need to do what works for you. There are of course some things that you should absolutely never do, but in regards to things like your arm positioning, there may be certain ways recommended or what is suggested to be safer/easier, but when it comes down to it you need to do what works for you. I find the best way to do that is researching multiple ways of doing a certain thing, then trying them all out, or even combining them together to see what works best for you, because that's what it comes down to. As for the trick, no idea. Practicing my Karate! xD I would have to say I'm very average at transitions on skates comparatively to some of the amazing skaters out there.

@BladerzOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! 84a and above will do just fine :)
@donzhang3114 жыл бұрын
Definitely safer to do: 1. Powerslide [get a feel for losing grip with your wheels] --> 2. Soul slide [stopping at ANY speed, safely. And the first position to the magic slide] --> 3. Magic slide [Just practice pulling in the back foot. And since you already have the soul slide while learning, you can sense when something's off, and bail if needed]. Totally safe.
@BladerzOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Very much agree with his as I said in my video. Thank you :)
@RichHayterSkater4 жыл бұрын
Nice work with this tutorial, Dude! I don't soul-slide, and even when I power-slide I don't do the whole serving thing, I transition onto a backwards skate in an almost flying-kick style movement, so I imagine I'll have a bit of learning ahead of me with this one, but that's all part of the fun, right?
@BladerzOfficial4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! And yeah I am familiar with that way of sliding. Considering you're quite a good skater, you should pick this up quicker than others. The thing that will probably trouble you the most is overcoming the mindset of how the magic slide works. Best of luck, and yeah that is the best part about skating :D
@michaelnam82313 жыл бұрын
Brilliant tutorial. May I know which setup is recommended as a start off. Straight setup or rockered setup?
@BladerzOfficial3 жыл бұрын
I can't speak for fully rockered skaters, as I've never used a setup like that before. I currently use Endless Frames which have a balanced rocker and slides feel perfect. Before i was using these frames however, i was using a fully flat setup and they also work perfectly fine. As for frame size/wheel setup, i find that it all depends on how big your foot is, and matching your frames with that. Although 4x80 is fine, 4x90 frames fit my feet perfectly and I can fully control my slides better because it fits me. For reference, my skate is 44-45 (EU). Hope this helps!

Hey there! 🎥 First of all, thanks for the great video! 👍 I really enjoyed it. However, I've noticed that when I try to do the magic slide, it automatically becomes a power slide. 😕 Can you please help me out and let me know what the problem might be
@BladerzOfficial4 ай бұрын
That was a problem I had for a very long time. The issue you're most likely having, is you're not fully committing to the Magic Slide. Unfortunately, that is the scariest but most important part of the slide. Slippery surfaces help a lot - as I mentioned with the water. Hope this helps!
@Raiyan8004 ай бұрын
@BladerzOfficial, thank you for your response. I have one more question. When I attempt to do the magic slide, instead of staying in one place, my legs stretch, causing me to fall. Could you please advise me on what I might be doing wrong?
@BladerzOfficial4 ай бұрын
It is most likely because you are not transferring all your weight to the front sliding foot. The back leg should have no weight on it.
@remyhendrikse64502 жыл бұрын
This is one of those things that I want to learn but I don't want to spend the price of new wheels, I'm practicing this at a skatepark with newly paved concrete to make emergency brakes. The con of riding 90mm is the price of the wheels, my next set of wheels cost 13 bucks per wheel.
@BladerzOfficial2 жыл бұрын
Yeah unfortunately that is the case. As someone who slides an awful lot, I can tell you that it definitely hurts the bank account. Then again, this is one of the most helpful things you can learn if you are wanting to feel safe skating at any time. So it is sort of a trade off. Maybe practice it now, then once you have got it down, then you only have to do it when you need to.
@remyhendrikse64502 жыл бұрын
@@BladerzOfficial I will learn to slide in this summer before I do replace my wheels because I need this skill to ride in the city, currently I do ride spinner wheels and these wheels are quite good. How can one learn magic or parallel slide without any protection? I spent last month trying to lazily learn parallel and had at least 3 times my shin skin badly scraped from falls. You fall at least once on your back and are not even wearing a helmet. This is probably my only complaint about overall great video.

I can parallel slide (which is supossed to be harder) but when I try to magic slide my backfoot does not slide and I last with a powerslide...:(
@BladerzOfficial3 жыл бұрын
This is the most common thing people find troubling when practicing the magic slide. I had the exact same problem. The things I would suggest doing is first of all, finding a slippery surface which will make the sliding part much easier. The thing you will find hard to do is fully committing to the slide. Unfortunately when it comes to skills like this, you have to 100% commit into the slide, because as soon as you don't, that's where the serious injuries happen.

@BladerzOfficial Жыл бұрын
I recommend 84a lowest, and 90a highest. I've tried all sorts of wheels in this range, and I personally find that 85a is overall the most consistent.
@crnbts3 жыл бұрын
is it easier to control the slide with bigger wheels?
@BladerzOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Some people find it easier with bigger wheels. Personally, I've used 4x80, 4x90, and 3x100 frames for sliding. The best one by far in my opinion is 4x90 because the frame is longer, wheels are bigger and you have more surface area connected to the ground. Hope this helps :)

85a will be just fine. I usually recommend between 84a-90a.
@amarissimus293 жыл бұрын
You said it, but it deserves repetition, and caps. COMMIT. As long you you have hard wheels, the difference between a slide and an endo is the commit, IMO. If you can't shake the fear, pad yourself up like a wuss and just do it. Really, once it clicks, the physics seem intuitive. You really have to commit though. This rule applies to most things in life as well.
