@@jimbow25 There is a lot of people who have the knowledge, but have no idea how to pass it on or just don't want to try and suddenly they become teachers. Note: they become BAD teachers. And it's more common than you think. It's sad to see people like you trying to make others feel inferior and like "an idiot" for no reason. You must have awful self-confidence and self-love issues if you like insulting others and think that's okay/funny. Hope you'll stop doing this and get better.

I hate that people here are trying to make others feel bad for having a bad education, which isn't their fault. I only know some of this because I did my own research online and I literally did art based programs my whole childhood They just weren't good. You realize as you are becoming an adult who wants to presue art how far behind you are while applying to colleges that people who had better education are also applying to. Art is terribly underfunded and it hurts potential future artists. It doesn't mean you are stupid or have less passion, other peoples base knowledge is just a privlage you don't have. We have to try harder, and shouldn't be called idiots for seeking knowledge and trying to grow as artists.

I made the challenge a little hard.. if you want the answers, scroll down on this comment to see if you were correct! . . . . . . . . . 1. Complimentary colour scheme, using orange/yellow to pop against a blue background. I'll also accept the use of bright/saturated colours (sunlight) to pop against the darker desaturated background (blue). 2. (Any answer is correct!) This is just my take: A sailor lost his son at sea and swears never to sail again. He's looking out into the ocean in fear and intrigue thinking about the best and worst days of his life out on the water. He bought a house at the top of the hill overlooking the bay so he can always be close to his son and the ocean, yet still far enough away that he's safe from his own demons. Wow that was deep.. 3. Fibonacci spiral! Starts in the bottom left and spirals up into the top right corner ending on the person.

Color group: looks like two complementaries to me. Yellow and purple and blue and orange. Maybe there's a specific name for that, like quadruple color scheme? Story: guy watches a dusk or dawn from the roof of an old house that is on top of a hill, overlooking the city. Since there are ships, maybe he wants to be a sailor, or is a sailor and has to leave soon? Maybe he awaits someone or something. Rule: first impression was Fibonacci spiral, because of the curved beach, the tree branches continuing the line to the man on the roof, but looking at it again there also seem to be "action" lines or rather leading lines that lead to the upper left corner of the picture. The roof and left edge of the picture come from the foreground and lead to the reflected sunlight which again leads to the sun off-screen

thanks for this vid, it really helped! my take on the picture at 17:32 is: - color/colour group: mostly warm colors (oranges, yellows, warm greens) contradicting the cool colors (purplish stuff, blue) - story (my fave part :) :this scene is the beginning of an adventure where the main character (human) is running away from home to follow his dreams of being a ship captain/sailor. his parents never approved, but this one day he got super fed up and ran away. he dreams of sailing all seven seas one day like his great uncle, Mr. Sailor-Dude, who all of his relatives despised (sailing was frowned apon in their heritage). i guess it's kinda a mash of coco and moana lol - rule/lines: i first looked at the dude, then the tree, which is curved towards the ocean which i then look at, and then the lines of the ocean go back to the character. hope you like my interpretation :)

The story is about a man reminiscing his warm memory while enjoying the sunset on top of his childhood home. Colour group: You used the bright, warm colours to set the leading line (eg. the man looking at the top left of the the scene), and you use cooler colour group (a bit desaturated) sit as the background / complementary. Rules: I think you used a combination of the Fibonachi rules and set a leading line towards the top left corner of the scene, making the man as the center of attention and everything else is kinda flowing towards the top left corner where the man is looking at. Btw, you've just got a new fan. Thanks for the lesson, mate!

I think that the composition of the last drawing is the golden ratio. I am not sure what color scheme it is. The drawing does make me think about the movie Rio from Bluesky. It reminds me of the shot from the movie where the boy who kidnapped the blue macaws is sitting on top of a roof reflecting on the wrong deed he did. It is night time in the shot making the emotional element of the scene feel, I guess, stronger in that it is sad. The drawing in this video, on the other hand, has light from the sun shining on all the buildings and trees and even on the person, making the scene feel happier, or more hopeful, or more encouraging than the Rio movie scene I mentioned. I also wanted to say that I really loved this video, and I learned a lot from it. I really appreciate the effort that this person made in planning the video and even demonstrating the techniques that he was teaching. "This place was a lot warmer when you were here, Susan". 3. Converging Line rules. In the picture, there are abstract lines that lead the eyes towards the sea.

The line of action (and visual loop) draw my attention to our character, who's outfit stands out against that blue/purple colour. I then look to the tree, which hints how high up the character is. I then look back to the sea, where I see tons of sailboats (what if they're coming to attack? Lol, "Revenge of the Sailboats") then the beam of light across the water draws me to the contrasty yellow highlights and back to the character. No looking off the image with this loop. Colour scheme also makes me look at certain things (highlights, which imply time of day, and the orange-ish roof, which then makes me look at the character). Thank you for this video; I feel much more educated about composition. OH! And it follows the rule of thirds.

1.) Orange reddish- paired with the green of the tree to being attention to the little goober on the roof. Less saturated muted blue for negative space that gives the viewer some breathing room. More saturated lighter blue paired with a very bright yellow that scatters over the muted part, viewers attention brought 1st to the goober then to what he's looking over and finally beyond that . More negative space treated with the subtle brown-iwh tone that gives a sense of wrapping. 2.) Feels like it could be the opening to a Ghibli movie. Maybe a jack and the beanstalk sorta thing and their house got picked up by a big ol' magic tree. 3.) Fibonacci spiral
@mikelezhnin86014 жыл бұрын
1) for color groups, you separated the picture clearly by warm and cold colors 3) for the rules, you got some action lines (?) that lead to that sunset top-left, as well as some negative space between the man and the sea 2) as for the story, I think it's about the guy willing to go sailing, but also not really, since it's so nice and warm at home, where he is idk

10:11 I wanted to also say the colors here definitely make the two look like they take place at different times of the day !!
@DrSilk-mo8cw13 күн бұрын
About the thing at the end: 1: The Color group creates an atmosphere in which we feel as though we are looking upon something covered in darkness without actually making everything within the setting impossible to see, thanks to the natural effect of using darker blues. The sand with a somewhat muted color draws attention away from it, and the house's bright roof with a distinctly colored character draws your attention to it that way. 2: The Story here implies some sort of significance to the sun. The character appears as though they are looking towards the sun, and it's portrayed in a (literal and figurative) positive light. The drawing makes us want to focus on the sun, because the rest of the piece is being directly affected by it in some way and it demands our attention. 3: I believe this uses the Fibonacci rule, with most focus and content drawn towards the bottom right corner of the piece while our eyes are guided across the piece in a diagonal pattern.

Fantastic video. BTW Colour Group Some sort of warm colors. Oblique lights from the sun it`s sort of sunset or dawn but the light reflected is pretty clear so here in the tropic that means dawn. Story The character is located in the negative space, so all the frame conducts the story to cast him/her. The rest of the people are at the marina. His/her pose with open arms and open legs, define stress. I think that character has resentments over the town and his/her solitude hope for the dawn of a vengeance It`s a frame w lots of perspective. That gives depth, drama, highlighted by color spectrum; the shore provides a very pronounced curve somo sort of narrative begining at the left bottom to the right top, reading and ascent or rising (in my plot, the revenge)

Quick tip for Julian, Move your cursor out of sight of the OBS every time you change something so that you can pause the prerecording while editing to make it easier to follow along.

The colour group used: orange and blue are the main colours in the scene, im gonna say it is complimentary. Storyline: Person standing on the roof watching a sunset preparing for the next challenge thats ahead. Rules: Fibonacci spiral because you naturally want to see what the guy is doing on the roof as you take in the scene around him with the tree and the city, then you see the ocean he is looking towards. The round lines in the scene help support this along with the placement of the character

wow. this is so helpful. i watched another video on composition but it totally didn’t make sense to me when the person explained it even though it said the video was beginner friendly!! this is really something i can finally understand. i’m not an art major but a biochemistry major who does art as a hobby so i’m not really good with technical things haha, so i appreciate this video!!!

Colour Group : complementary colour scheme sort of a thing? really the focus is that house and that guy Story: it gives off this bright morning vibe, where a guy is just on his roof watching the sunrise. he looks like he's super motivated and is set out to do something of substance, yk really bright enthusiastic kind of a vibe rule : at first i thought it was Fibonacci spiral but then it seems as though there's converging lines. it kind of gives you a sequence where you look at the sea and it slowly leads you to the bottom of the guy and you see him looking out to the sea.

1. The colour group seemsw to be complementary with the blues and oranges. The background of cities is also a bit desaturated to make focus on the foreground and the ocean. 2. The story which this composition is telling is adventure and exploration as this is a high angle look on a vast beautiful cityscape and ocean. 3. The rule of thirds is applied as the person and the house is positioned at the bottom right, there can also be the fibonnaci rule applied with focus onto the right. as the curves of the ocean do make the fibonacci line.

For the Rule, I think it's a Line of action compostion because the direction the character is looking is in the direction the sun is reflecting off of the water. The color groups are placed in a way that it draws attention to the roof and the water .

Thanks for the video, Julian! It was really helpful and thorough, yet simple to follow. Keep it up! I nailed the colour group and the rule, but thought that the Fibonacci rule was starting in the upper left corner, down the sun reflection, then up the house/tree and then down again on the character. I guess I didn't really care for the little houses down the hill haha.

1. Complementary colors blue and orange. 2. Person looking for a certain boat off in the distance. 3. Rule of thirds, although the thirds are diagonal

okay lets go 1. triadic scheme 2. dude is on the roof of the house on the hill so he can watch the first rays of the rising sun, crawling to the city below 3. fibonacci rule Great videos, mate. Keep it up !!!

color: seems to be complementary colors. the yellow represents as the light from the sun(or maybe the sun's going down) and the land are going dark blue that going evening(i guess) story: the man sitting on the roof, looking at the sun, and he's thinking about dealing his life in every hard times and how he will become a better person. rules: Fibonacci spiral, because the shores are round or curve along with the tree.

I am in awe of quality of this video. You crammed so much information on composition into twenty minute video, it's insane. Btw for the challenge, i think it was triatic color scheme. The character was looking out onto the sea, wanting to leave the big city. And you used Fibonacci spiral This video actually got me excited to learn more, something school failed to do. 😂

4 years after the fact but... ~ split complimentary? ~ Fibonacci ~ spy thriller with James Bond~esque character - maybe being chased by bad guys (hence standing on the roof) as more henchpersons come in from the sea: S/he's surrounded and they have to dodge bullets but then there's a scream of an advanced airborne thingie - maybe a drone that can handle a person's body weight and the drone deploys cover fire and grenade thingies and BOOM and amidst the confusion of the villains, the drone swoops down and our heroine grabs on and flies to safety with a tiny weapon of mass destruction in their pocket! Was I close? Really helpful video btw, thank you!

For the end: Colour:The drizzle of yellow lines your eyes with the character Story: a ufo landing so emits rays of light to signal its arrival which is why the character is attentive, prob got on the roof to get a better view Rule: not sure but I think spiral rule

1) Observing blues and yellows I guess it's complementary. 2) A boy who use to live in a place far away from ocean, set on a journey to see ocean that he heard from trader. He finally his destination he could feel his clothes flowing as wind directs rather than following the road he climbed a house blocking the sun. Light pierced his eyes, he saw birds and boats vanishing in a river going beyond the world, illuminated by sun. 3) Rule of triad

Colours are complimentary - Orange & Blue The story looks to be a person looking for freedom, a place beyond the ocean And the rule looks to be all leading to one point? (Draws & follows to the top left corner)
