I do so miss it there. Lived in Sevierville and Gatlinburg was my happy place. Living there, we knew when the crowds were at their worst and stayed home. Days like THIS were gold! So many places along the river where you could turn off and simply enjoy nature's beauty. Those were my favorite spots and they felt like you you miles away from everything even though you weren't. Thanks for the walkthrough. You made me smile.

At this time of year this is now also “the quiet side of the Smokies☺️. We have been there several times after the crowds leave. It is a nice thing to experience; seeing these towns when they come to rest, very Peaceful as they just breath a sigh of relief from the overwhelming crowds. No bears, but no crowds🤔☺️?! Thanks Ryan, we love you guys; have a Blessed New Year🙏🏻☺️. 🫎

Hi Ryan! Great video! All those years when I was much younger running/jogging, all for pain everywhere in my knees, ankles, and 2 hip replacements! You’re doing it the best way, walking! I wish I could have those years back? (But not the 8 years of college and dental school? LOL! My wife and I are so thankful for all our blessings, and one of those is to find a wonderful Christian family we are subscribed in KZbin! Please as others are saying, stay safe, because we would be devastated ourselves if anything happened to any of you? We love you all and your channel, such a good family and we hope they all thank God daily for their loving parents.

I left my cabin yesterday around 5:30am before you got into town. I went outside and there were flurries and ice crystals piling up on the very twisty and steep little one land road to get back to 441 in town. I wish I had headed back to The Village for a little more photography before I left, as the evening before there were some foreign tourists who would not leave the fountain area and were letting their young teen daughters actually play in it and break off all the icicles while others like myself were trying to photograph it. They were actually making cell phone videos of their daughters doing that while several folks wanting to take family photos in front of the fountain stood waiting on them to leave. That's one beef I have with the city. There should be some "on foot" law enforcement to move people along and to also prevent littering, etc. I walked down River Road and noted all the padlocks that the lovelorn "young' uns" have placed on the ornamental metal fencing along the Pigeon River, which made memories for them, but created an eyesore for everyone else. I noted all the trash that was dropped along the sidewalk, making its way into the river. There was even a dirty diaper left on top of one of the ornamental fenceposts about fifteen feet from a trash can. I'm a Tennessean who has been visiting Gatlinburg since the early 70s and it makes me extremely sad to see how some people behave out in public. Okay, through with my rant. Sorry. I have just always loved that town and want it to be preserved, maintained and respected for the enjoyment of ALL.

Enjoyed the video. A friend and I were in Gatlinburg just after Christmas for the weekend and downtown was definitely busy which was cool but made it difficult to actually enjoy all the sights. We had tickets to go to Anakeesta to see the lights and go up to the top, but by time we got there (5:45) we were told they were closing at 6:00 due to the incoming high winds. Fortunately we got a refund, we plan to go there next time we come back. We had a place in the mountains for the weekend (3,060 ft elevation) right by Ober Mountain, in fact the place we had we could see the 2nd platform for the Cloud Catcher zip line (which was super fun and would do again) from the deck. Anyway the video was very cool and got to relive some of the places we walked past while we were there.

Cool to stumble across this video, we are actually in Pigeon Forge / Gatlinburg this week visiting from middle TN. Taking off tomorrow to avoid the snowpocalypse drive home, but we've really enjoyed visiting the area when it's much less busy than usual. The space needle was indeed closed earlier today, btw. We tried to hit it up and they had it shut down.

I do have a question, what is your birth state or where did you grow up? I wonder what the farthest distance is for someone coming to Gatlinburg, TN. We returned to Gatlinburg in the early 80s- 2005. We have never returned due to other family commitments, work and health issues. Thanks again.
