Great Tutorial as a challenge. But if making a regular track, not in one hour - I personally highly recommend checking the tune/key of the kick first. The kick got a tail of low (bass) that got a tone. Also, export the "bass" after reverb manipulations that can change the tonality of the sound and check the tone of the bass after all these creative things. Re-pitch it in the primary key of the song. The track will sound more musically right to the ear.
@lisotunali38072 жыл бұрын
Go watch "tuning the kicks? - by e clip" on youtube, you'll learn why it doesn't matter and you can just go by ear. All you need to do is listen for a desired phase between kick and bass.
@Vi_Ta_Lee2 жыл бұрын
@@lisotunali3807 Maybe when it's a short kick without a tail. Don't need to forget that you are planning to combine bass with other melodic elements to keep your track in tune. if your track is just drums, yes, it does not matter at all, but if we are talking about the original sample where the tail already has a note inside, or maybe you plan a pitch it in harmony with a pad or arp, for example. It's better to check precisely what tone Is to do it correctly later. Of course, we all got own way of working.
@Vi_Ta_Lee2 жыл бұрын
@@lisotunali3807 , I watched the video, by the way. Good tutorial. Again, we all got different techniques.
@lisotunali38072 жыл бұрын
@@Vi_Ta_Lee The point is that a kick does NOT have a stable tone in it's tail. It's descending. An analyzer will tell you that it does have a peak at a certain frequency, but that's energy level and not a stable tone like a bass is. It's still important to have that sit in a good spot in a nice relation to the bass but using your ears to do that will be much more beneficial than a tuner

Hey! I really enjoyed the lesson and learned a lot. I'm particularly focused more around TechHouse genre but this is great. I had a question regarding DAW's. I currently run on MPC Beats as it came with my akai MPK mini 3 though i feel it's lacking some freedom. I'm a beginner and was looking to get a different DAW and saw you use FL Studio. I'm in between two and wanted to know if you ever tried Ableton and if so which out of the two do you prefer when compred to FL studio. Which one would you recommend for a beginner looking to become an intermediate and eventually a pro 😅
