I got mine last week and gigged with it and never had so much fun. Got me to thinking how much of my life I have wasted by playing lesser amps. Simply inspiring.

A 9V out on the Amp itself, what is this wizardry? Its 2022, every damn amp should have a 9V out by now, its ridiculous that this has to be considered an amazing feature, good on them for including it!

@Never Weather 100%, I also imagine it may help with noise being introduced by cheap transformers and extra ground loops too!
@Smitty_Werbenjagermanjenson2 жыл бұрын
VHT amps had that back in the day. Manufacturers proably don't want to add yet another transformer and make room for a plug when they suspect that people with pedals will have a power supply for them anyways

Would love to hear this with an A/B comparison against a plexi and an 800, which would give the sound some context. I feel like most amp modelers sound good out of the context of what they're modeling, but some fall apart when compared directly to what theyre based on. The Fender tonemasters for example.
@Utube-s8m2 жыл бұрын
Tome masters are the worst. You May as well get an ss fender and save yourself a bunch of money.
@tpherndon2 жыл бұрын
This is not a modeler, for what it’s worth. It’s a Marshall-voiced preamp into a really good solid state power amp. Actual tubes inside for the preamp.

You are in luck, there is a Jack version. There are five amps in this V4 range all based on the existing range of Victory amps: Sheriff, Copper, Kraken, Duchess and of course, the Jack.

Nobody talks about using these with an actual speaker cab. Do I really have to carry 180 watts of speaker capability? That kind of blows the portability of the unit.
@PantheonLincoln9 ай бұрын
It's been a whike since you posted this, and you might already know, but it depends on your cabs, the wattage varies depending on the impedance of the cab. It only outputs 180 watts if the cab you use is 4 ohms. That's actually a bit unusual for cabs anyway, although Victory do make one that is capable of working with the V4 amps. Essentially, double the impedence of the cab, and the wattage halves, so this outputs 90 watts at 8 ohms, and 45 watts at 16 ohms. You're more likely to find 8 and 16 ohm cabs than 4, it's just the nature of the class D power section these amps use.

Talking about directly powering pedals from the Sheriff. I own the preamp version of the Sheriff and it sounds good, but doesn't like drive, fuzz, boost pedals in front that much. Is this the same with the full amp version?
@NicksGuitarworks2 жыл бұрын
My Sheriff 44 is the same. But that’s just that style of amp. Definitely a plug straight in and go kind of amp. Occasionally a treble boost in front. Their other models are pretty pedal friendly, especially the Duchess lineup.

with these sorts of "pedals" (milkman as well), I've wondered how far you can be from the cab. you'd need a proper speaker cable to handle the load if it's powering a cab, right? what's the max distance you can be from the cab, I've seen 3ft to 10ft cables, not great if you're playing live if you have this on a board and actively using other pedals.
@tpherndon2 жыл бұрын
It’s an amp, leave it near your cab. There’s a connection available for a separate footswitch to change channels, just like many multi-channel amps

I've owned one of the V4 amp sheriffs, and the simulated output, the effects loop, 9v features and size are amazing BUT the class D output to a speaker was not for me as it doesn't respond or sound like a valve power amp. If you are going to a desk then this is a great solution; going to a guitar cab at gig levels, not so much. Just about all the demos that show what this unit is capable of I expect are from the XLR Two Note output.
