Bass Fishing most used rig. It has probably caught more bass than any other fishing rig. I love fishing the Texas Rig. It can catch largemouth bass anytime and anywhere. This is the perfect rig for beginner bass fishing.

I wanna thank you Gene, I started my bass fishing journey learning from your channel. Years later, studying your videos I’ve caught several bass to be proud of, even brought my daughter along (8 at the time) once who caught a 4 lber on a spinner bait. Much is due to your lessons, thank you so much!

You seem so nice, patient and easy to understand which makes you a great teacher! I grew up fishing but my dad always rigged my poles for me. He has been gone 8 years this June and this is the first spring I have really got back out on the water since he passed and have been teaching myself through youtube on how to knot my line to what to use for what I want to fish for and if it wasn't for videos like these I would have just given up. So just wanted to say thank you, not only are you helping me get back out there but you are helping me feel close to my dad again by reeling in some big fish! I appreciate it more than you would know!

I’ve been fishing ever since I was a kid but never really learned different rigs or techniques. You’re very patient and easy to understand when you explain the set up and how to use the rig. Really enjoy your videos and I actually used a Texas rig today using methods I learned from you. Started off fishing those points like you mentioned and utilized the fan casting techniques. I was only out for maybe an hour and a half and had two bites. Lost the first one because he jumped and I didn’t get the hook set so he got loose second one I got a good hook set and was able to land him. Just a small little 2 lb large mouth but for a guy that’s used to getting skunked I couldn’t be happier. Turned him lose in hopes of a bigger catch on my next outing. I absolutely feel like it wouldn’t have happened without your tips and guidance. Thanks so much for the information!

OH MY GOD! I am new to real fishing. I was he kind of kid that would go into a sports store and buy whatever looked cool and knew nothing about soft plastics but as I am getting into this kind of real fishing his explanation on soft plastic colors was possibly the greatest explanation I have heard! I have scoured the interwebs looking for a good explanation but he gave it in less than thirty second

Fluke Master is one of my favorite KZbin channels to watch, keep those videos coming. I hooked a Bass the first time I fished a Texas rig and have been hooked on Bass fishing ever since. I landed my first Bass on a Bass jig dragging it by an old 🌲 stump that was partially submerged. It weighed about four pounds.

a red plastic bead behind the bullet weight is great too. That clicking noise you helps add a little noise in murky water. I have gotten tons of hits in lily pads letting the worm or plastic frog sit there for a moment then a slight flick on the rod tip to get that minor click to get that hit.
@mzahra1
@mzahra1 Ай бұрын
I do the same. You can even use a glowing bead to attract fish in murky water or low light. And the bead prevents the weight from constantly hitting the knot and tearing it.

This video is a perfect example of why I like your channel, Gene. First off, you illustrate a "how to" on a good basic rig, then you post it without catching a fish. In this case, anybody who actually fishes knows this is a great rig, so the actual landing is not a big deal for the show. The unedited nose scratching was a bonus, too. :) Excellent work.

Great stuff as always Gene. Texas rig is something I'm making a conscious effort to use more this year. Over the winter I bought a rod and reel specifically for texas rigs. I only allow myself to use texas rigs on it, and always take it with me. I can't believe it took me so long to get to this point, it's gotta be the greatest rig for the most number of conditions.

I really needed this video today. I had a frustrating day fishing. I posted up by a bush in my kayak, a bass bit my senko in half twice, I switched to a smaller bait hoping to get the hook in it's mouth better and it didn't bite again. Switched back to a senko and still nothing. Went home empty handed. It's actually reassuring to see a pro have a similar outcome.

Over the years I ended up pretty much just Texas rigging my worm but without a wait. In order to get it to cast good I buy a little bit thicker heavier plastic worm instead of a lighter one. This works so well along the bank and all kind of conditions, and the heavier worm will still allow your light fishing tackle to cast a pretty long ways using about a 6 lb test fluorocarbon . And for the spring spawn it is outstanding to do it like this., You can throw your worm a long way if you see fish nest Way off in the shallow and it allows you to drag and work your worm slow and easy without the weight wanting to stir up the dirt around the nest.. a lot of times during the spawn they will see it coming and hit it almost the same instant it hits the surface of the water. Really exciting stuff. Lol

Great point about it being for fishing a 'spot' and not an area or zone. That's where the vast majority of my Texas rig bites come, when I cast/drop it in the right spot in or around cover. Sometimes I'll get a surprise bite when I'm reeling back in, as if it were a swim jig. It makes the long-cast bites that much more rewarding, because it's like you hit a 60-yard field goal or sunk a long hole-in-one.

Your videos are absolutely delightful and our fishing styles are almost identical. I have an opinion on fishing a Texas rigged 10 inch worm; 1/4 ounce black tungsten weight, pegged and my go-to color regardless of the water is GRAPE. A grape-colored worm is like an anomaly. I ran into the bass professor himself, Doug Hannah, in 1988 and he turned me on to it. Good stuff :)

Not catching one while filming is just reality. Thanks for keeping it real. It’s called fishing…not catching. Great video! I caught my personal best, a 6 lb largemouth, this summer using a Texas rigged green pumpkin. 👍🏻
