You are welcome. You can't go wrong with this instrument. The Q series head joint is fantastic!

I'm a 12-years-removed advanced student. Your videos are helping me get started back. The reviews are helping me decide which flutes I'll try to step up from my current intermediate. It's a Gemeinhardt 3SHB, so it has the silver head. However, I want something more. I've been looking at this 680, a Pearl Elegante 695 Vigore, and a Yamaha 577. Yeah, I want that C-sharp trill and split E, and to make up for the extra weight, I think I'm gonna skip the B foot, especially since the vast majority of my issues with weight are with the right hand and pinky.

Fantastic. Those flutes sound like great choices. I'm sure you will be happy with any of those. Unless you are playing music from the 20th and 21st century a lot you probably don't need that B foot. You can always buy a B foot at a later date so buying a C foot sounds like a great choice. I'd love to hear what you ultimately buy.

I wsh the information was available 15-20 years ago. I tried d so many instrument's, (and drove miles to try them) before I found the one I wanted. Its worth getting them sent to you.

Hi DC! I hear you! Those were the only options not so long ago. Today having them sent to you and being able to try a wider variety is a beautiful thing! What do you play on?

@@DoctorFlute I play a Pearl ST-700E hand built not long after Pearl started to make flutes, its made in coin silver 900 rather than 925. Its old but plays great.

Just bought one a few weeks ago. Have a difficult time with the low and middle D. Any suggestions. Playing almost a year. Thanks

You may want to have someone look at it, it’s probably leaking.

This flute sounds very responsive and the sound quality is great! Also, not a related question but i was wondering which flute did Waverly finally choose? (if she chose one)
@DoctorFlute3 жыл бұрын
Hi Amir! Yes this is a great instrument and the one that Waverly chose!

Soldered tone holes have some extra weight as well. So c#tr + e mech + soldered should be a noticeable weight difference :)

Absolutely! Too much for my hands.

If your student ever desires a rounder tone, she might want to consider a heavier crown.
@DoctorFlute3 жыл бұрын
Yes, I've heard that is a cheaper route to go. I'm actually trying to do a video on crowns to see for myself.
@Titanandenceladus3 жыл бұрын
@@DoctorFlute from what I understand, it has less to do with the material of the crown, and more about weight and design. Apparently not all stoppers are designed the same way, and some headjoints may have stoppers that have either a thinner or thicker threaded rod, or might have a longer or shorter threaded rod. Just something to keep in mind
