He is so awesome, isn’t he? Stranger is one of my absolute favorite songs. I get goosebumps every time I hear it. I’m a real fan of movies that have such a mystical or oriental atmosphere. And it was such a great idea by Dimash to use the Qobyz for that. The man who often is playing the Qobyz in Dimash’s performance (also here in Stranger) is the best on this instrument and a good friend of Dimash. His name is Olzhas Qurmanbek. You often can hear this instrument when Dimash sings in his native tongue like Samaltau, Qairan Elim or Òmir Òter. In the end of Stranger he introduced him to the audience and he thanked them. As a Kazakh he speaks Kazakh and Russian fluently. He sang Stranger for the first time at New Wave in Sochi, Russia in 2021. This is an international competition for young artists, founded in 2002 by Igor Krutoy. Dimash sang here as a guest and was also a member of the jury. Igor Krutoy, like so many other masterpieces, wrote this song specifically for Dimash and his incredible vocal range (in this song alone he sings 5 octaves F1-F6 I think). And the last note he held for 20 seconds. The way he switchs so affortlessly between the different registers and octaves in one song is so mesmerizing and unbelievable. By the way, he is really a very good actor. You just have to watch his music videos like When I've Got You, Okey, or The Story Of One Sky. As already mentioned, Stranger was written by the famous Russian/Ukrainian composer, producer and songwriter Igor Krutoy. His and Dimash's collaboration created true masterpieces. He writes songs that only Dimash could sing with his vocal range, such as Olimpico, Stranger or Ave Maria. You’ll often see him accompanying Dimash on the piano. If Igor Krutoy is there, the song was also written by him.The two have no contract. Their cooperation is based more on mutual trust. It’s more like a father/son relationship. Please react to Olimpico or also Ogni Pietra from his Arnau concert in 2019 next. In this song he sings in Italian. You can find it on Igor Krutoy‘s Channel. Olimpico is another masterpiece that Igor Krutoy wrote especially for Dimash’s vocal skills. It was written for the 2nd European Games in Minsk, Belarus 2019. And that’s why the lyrics are also very motivating. This song and this performance from this Arnau concert is my absolute favourite🥰 I think this version is the best, because his performance is so intense and breathtaking. The light show, the background dancers. Everything. With this song in this version I always get breathlessness. The way he represents himself on stage, the hand movements. I think he has incredibly beautiful hands🤭(and apparently many cameramen think so too, since many of the camera shots during his performances very often only show his hands. Sometimes it seems as if he is conducting himself. This is really fascinating). And the facial expression, the look. There he looks so commanding😱. In my opinion, this version of Olimpico is one of the most impressive performances ever. If you don't know what the song is about, you'd think he was going to war and is calling his army to a lost battle 😅! It’s absolutely stunning. This song was written by Igor Krutoy specifically for Dimash. You'll notice Igor has written numerous songs by request from Dimash. Dimash has a lot of input on how his songs are arranged, including the addition of Kazakh instruments.

Ave Maria was also written by Igor Krutoy (as was Stranger) for Dimash. It’s based on Cassini’s version of Ave Maria rather than Schubert’s version and there are no lyrics. Igor is a famous Russian composer (on piano) multi billionaire worth 13 billion (that’s how successful he is in Russia). Igor came out of retirement in 2018 to compose a few masterpieces for Dimash, when he first heard him sing. Dimash IS a great actor BTW, his music videos are works of art! His own composition called Story of One Sky, is incredible, and the acting is brilliant! (Dimash is an amazing composer, he received a perfect score in his masters degree in Composition, for his amazing song called War and Peace!) React to the MV of ‘The Story of One Sky’ first (13 1/2 minutes long and it cost Dimash 7 million USD of his own money to produce, he also wrote the screenplay and was the main actor) and then see him sing it live at his Almaty concert (Part 3) in 2022. You really won’t believe that it’s possible for anyone to sing it live, and he did it during the third hour of his solo concert! It’s truly amazing and very emotional!

A Kobyz is the violin's oldest relative known. Pressing harder on a string does not change the pitch. Placement of the finger(s)on the string relative to the neck will, as does the tension on each string strung through a tuning peg that fine tunes the string's pitch.

While its a new song, not a Kazak traditional song, it was wrote FOR him by Igor who has wrote quite a lot of songs for Dimash- so either he had it be a kobyz or Dimash takes the composition and adapts it some- not sure. Btw Igor also wrote Olympico and Ava maria for Dimash too. (Its not the famous ava maria just a vocalise of the same name)

Once you`re dimashyfied, there is no escape. 😂 So many amazing songs/performances by him. This was composed by the very famous composer in Russia Igor Krutoy. He also composed "Ave Maria" for him. (So it`s not one of the well known one.) Dimash and he are friends. In the past he composed some songs for him. Dimash has always worked on the arrangement. The Kobyz player is one of the best in Kazakhstan and Dimash friend. Dimash shows us in his MVs, that he can act. For example in the "Story Of One Sky", his masterpiece.
