Hey Brother Jared, If you want your root cellar to stay warm, stack bales of straw all up around the outside walls and then wrap it with tarpaper or something to keep it dry, like they did in the old days when they made ice houses. Peace, and May the Deer Lord and Lady Bless. PS- That way it will be an ice house in the summer also, like a fridge, for a while, the bigger the longer ice houses last. Hey y'all, Good morning, Mr Finley is getting bigger and more talkative. Them are some might fine chickens is Finley takin good care of them? Deer hunting are y'all able to put feeders on the property for the deer. I see all the folks in Oklahoma are able to do that because they say it feeds the deer and keeps the population more healthy and when harvested it gets the numbers where they feel it is best for them. I remember when you built the cellar with all the nice woodwork. Looks like it is doing the job just fine. God bless y'all take care

Great idea to keep it from freezing. We would use one to keep our pump from freezing when the power was out. Didn't have generators back then
