Hello everyone I hope you are well! Many people have asked for an update on this Fluval Flex 123 marine tank so here it is! It's going really well as you can see; there a few a few issues I need to sort out by adding a power head or two. Also in this video I mention that the light coverage has areas where it's quite dim, however I forgot to counter this with the fact it comes with brackets you can use to add a second light which would fix this issue. Overall I REALLY LOVE THIS TANK!

If I wanted to add a pair of powerheads would I need to make a hole or gap in the lid for their cables or does the lid have a suitable gap for them please?

I love all of the different decorative algae plants. I've always wanted to grow different algae species in the main tank as well as in the sump, so I'm going to do it. Thanks!

I have a 200gallon bowfront and the secrete to stopping the sediments on the bottom half is to have flow from opposit ends of the tank. either on each side, or on the back wall but close to the edges.

Very informative video. After i hear you comments about it, i have to say that i am fully agree with you. I have fluval flex 37 lt (it is a debate whether you need a sump for 37lt) and 52 lt, i use them for freshwater. It looks nice and i also like the bow front. Light is absolutely not enough unless you go with mid/low light plants, dark areas are also a problem in the freshwater tank, bottom sump suction is very low you cant have high sand bed, instead of putting all sort of unnecessary disco effects to the light a timer would be much useful, the separator for the sump partitions can be designed much more effectively, but at the end i paid 100Eur for the 37lt and the price is good for all in 1 tank. I remove the sump in my 37lt and turned that into a blackwater it works fine. I never hear any good comment about fluval skimmers at all.

If I can add I have a Fluval evo 13.5 and my pump for that little tank is the same as your 32.5. Upgraded pump of course

What did you get?
@RobBoryckiGolf4 жыл бұрын
It’s a sicce and produces about 265 gph which is over double the stock evo

I was wondering what your light setting is? I have a couple zoas, a ricordia florida, and a hammer. Most of the zoas are doing well but one is stretching for light even though it is at the highest point. Thanks!

So disapointing the skimmer. Maybe the skimmer need to pass the brake in period? And after you will not have any bubbles in the tank. Did you try it?
@EverydayAquarist4 жыл бұрын
Hi yeah I ran it for a few weeks. The problem seems to be the actual molding where the two parts are joined it has gaps in it also it kicks out bubbles from the bottom straight into the pump. I have tried all sorts of things to stop it but no good unfortunately which is a big shame.

Everyday Aquarist did you have the same issue with the skimmer when the air vent was installed? I would assume that if it was in you would be able to adjust it. Let me know because I’m planning on the same set up to grow softies. Thanks for the update! Tank looks great!

I was inspired by your planted marine tanks and planted some caulerpa prolifera a few months back in a fish only tank. It has spread like mad and has now sucked all of the nutrients out of the tank and is dying. Do you add fertilizer to your tanks? If so, what kind. Thanks you for your posts it is one of my favorite channels.

Nice Work! I would take away that ugly plastic lid and have one lid done in glass. And buy a quality led light and the tank would look so much better and premium. I did that with my Fluvial Flex 57. The led light you have on, I glued mine on the back of my tv and I use the controls for cool effects on the wall.
@EverydayAquarist4 жыл бұрын
Thank you. The lid is starting to bow with the heat from the light so I may just do that

Everyday Aquarist thanks a lot for the videos!! wow, I was planning to convert my flex 32 freshwater to saltwater by changing led, but now I wonder if I should be worried about the heat problem. Let me know if you end up with a external led solution, very interested!

@Morgan J any suggestion on a quality light and glass lid?
@passenger-rider4 жыл бұрын
Julien W - Kessil A360 Tuna Blue is good quality light for your marine tank. Regarding the lid, I took the glass from a poster frame then I cut out the glass to fit the aquarium. If you can not cut, just go to a hardware store and ask them to cut the glass lid for you.

Beautiful👍I plan to start a saltwater nanotank with seaweed and a mangrove. I wanted to by a fluval flex, but wasn't sure if it's the right tank for saltwater, esp. the light that comes with it.

How come that well-known companies fall down on R & D. This has the other effect of people feeling that can do better. I am thinking in particular to filters. I make a point of running a filter to manufacturers specs and only modify if something is wrong. Microbubbles is certainly something you don't want.
@EverydayAquarist4 жыл бұрын
Yeah there's mixed opinions on this skimmer from what I have researched some people get on well with it others get microbubbles I assume there's just a big variance in the moulding or something. Who knows? I'm not Fluval so can only tell you what my experience is. There is a new model out so I assume that one will be better
