If I walked away from all prospects who gave the deadline of “ASAP” then I’d have no clients. I just use it as an opportunity to drive the timelines our end and better manage our own resource without the added pressure of an unrealistic deadline. In our experience, most businesses who outsource design or marketing work are doing so haphazardly and/or reactively, and nobody within the business itself is directly responsible for it, or really knows anything about it which is why they need help to begin with. The bigger the businesses are, the worse that problem seems to be, so it’s very rare you’re going to get to work with a company who has their sh!t together enough to give both clear and realistic deadlines, especially on an exploration call. Aside from that nitpick, I think your points are spot on.

Fair enough, everyone's experience is different. But, word to the wise, keep challenging yourself to see if you have any limiting beliefs here. I've seen companies who work like your description but many don't. Appreciate the comment. ✌

I think the 3 years question is a very good one. I use it with 1 year, as most businesses I work with are relatively new. Due to that question I recently closed my biggest client so far because I found out that they actually have a marketing problem, and I could offer different services to solve those, beside making a website for them
